completely. I'm not sure Rivera is a 3-4 guy at all, he adapted to Lovie's scheme in Chicago and adapted to what was already in SD. Of course, his Bears didnt play 3-4 and to think they already knew who the next coach was before last years draft is nuts. I guess anyone can create a conspiracy theory.

Let's take it back to the draft before the 09 season, I mean Brown was projected as more of a 3-4 OLB too, right? We've known it would be Rivera since Fox got here in 01.

Yea, I don't foresee this "some 3-4 looks" business as being much more frequent than we've been utilizing. He's said point blank, it's a 4-3 team. His favorite words "aggressive, attacking defense" does not have to mean a 3-4. Most teams "have some 3-4 looks" every now and then.

Last year's draft had nothing to do with knowing who the next coach would be or what scheme they would run, IMO.

Last year's draft was about picking the best players we could and filling in needs based on last year's teams and schedule. Clausen was picked because he fell to us and we felt we couldn't pass him up. Edwards, LaFell and Gettis were all picked up to bolster the depleted wide receiver corps. Hardy was the BPA in the sixth. Norwood is only 241 which is really linebacker size in this league not DE. We were looking for depth and he provided it.

Hurney would have had no idea which coach or coordinator was going to be available this year, so he would not have picked players anticipating a certain coach or system, so far in advance. Frankly he could have picked up Rivera last year and fired Fox if he wanted to go in that direction. It would make no sense picking up players to work in a scheme like Rivera's and then keep the old coach.

Last point is that Rivera and McDermott are going with the 4-3 which is the similar to Fox's basic scheme, so this whole conspiracy case holds no water.

Im not buying a conspiracy but I was curious as to why we were drafting 3-4 linebackers Brown/Norwood. Till the Bronco's selected a 3-4 linebacker in this years draft #2 overall. Then I was like "oh yeah Fox is an idiot....almost forgot"
