Gus Malzahn on WFNZ this morning...5/5/11

there is speed, but teams still get worn out facing a no huddle hurry up offense no matter what level they play at.

sure, if they were playing a bunch of college guys it might be different, but at the pro level malzahn's offense would work just about as well as it did in college.

A little too early to assume that, they haven't even run an OTA yet. Hopefully they learned from Fox's and their own mistakes in the past.

in that first presser that hurney and rivera did after the cam pick, rivera talked about how chud and hula had already been working on what they would take away initially but also what hey would add and from what i gather, a lot of that is already in there and more will be added as they see what he can do.

they wouldn't have made the pick unless they had worked a lot of those details out. considering that chud and shula essentially campaigned for newton and had to put together a presentation showing how it could work, i'd say they were way ahead of the game.

all these things that people keep on saying they hope the panthers do, they've already started doing.

That hasn't been a good thing in the past.

it didn't work out very well for Spurrier but are there other examples that you're thinking of? i can't think of any but i'm not saying that they don't exist.

as far as Spurrier goes, i think that's an entirely different situation but that's jmo. if Malzahn does get a shot at being an NFL OC, though. i pray to Matt Moore that it's not with the Redskins.

Well said.

I was not for the pick. However, I do like the things that Chud/Rivera/Shula are saying and doing. They researched and studied the hell out of Cam. After all of that, they were convinced that he is the guy.

Well, I trust their decision. They know the offense they want to run and believe that Cam is well suited to run it.

So, lace them up and get on the field. I can't wait for this season to start.

I just want to know why anyone would take the time to worry about what some of this so called experts (Charlie Casserly) cough cough have tp say. After all isn't Casserly the same guy who picked David Carr first over all when he was the Texans GM back in 02, yeah I really trust his "expert opinion on drafting a QB"! LMAO

Carr wasn't the problem, zero protection was. They had plans, but one dude retired, another went down in TC. There's more to it than what it appears.

Carr's problem wasn't protection. It was his unwillingness to ever throw the ball. That and the fact he was in a constant state of undue panic.

Dude didn't even have time to throw, as a result of his repeated beatings be got tentative and it only got worse. Protection was definitely the issue and even Casserly admits they set him up to fail in that regard.

Carr was the problem. Poor QB play and poor decision making is an OL's worst nightmare.....b/c it gives the illusion they are doing a worse job than they really are doing.

The Texans got so frustrated with it they finally at the end just called him on it all.

If QB #1 takes 57 sacks and QB #2 who takes 57....that alone doesn't mean they had the same poor OL protection.

carr didn't start off with the greatest of intestinal fortitudes. he wasn't that great to begin with. problem were as much his fault as anyones. his inability to rise above his difficulties were all on him, though.

people give too much credit to the houston Oline and not enough to carr for his demise.
