It's so funny, and true! Those 2 guys can make u or break you in a draft! I told my homeboy Months ago... Watch these dudes jump on Cam's d**k and watch him be the first pick in the draft. They're both full of shyit!

You know what would impress me... Scout out rounds 2-7 and let me know where the talent is there! These people get mad press coverage for calling like the first 10 players that basically because they talk so good about them, they get picked 1-10

Good for the players for blasting his ass! Watch him delete his twitter now. What a bunch of Shmo's they are!

There is not a front office in the NFL that listens to anything McShay or Kiper have to say. And if there were ever an exec. that picked a guy top 10 because the talking heads said they should go top 10, he should be fired immediately.

Really hate to defend McShay, but i would say the later rounds of the draft are his specialty. He overthinks a lot of the beginning rounds leading to the majority of missed projections, but he is pretty solid when it comes to the draft depth and having good info on "no-name" players.

Second, these guys do not make or break you in the draft. NFL scouts don't consult with Mel or McShay, or review their big board prior to draft day. NFL scouts are paid to formulate their team's opinion on players without letting outside influences sway you. If this wasn't the case... Hurney would be sitting in the war room on draft day with espn.com on his laptop.

If anything, they need to omit talk of character concerns with these guys unless they know them first hand. But you can't blame them for taking someone's first hand opinion and running with it... it's their job. Whether or not you guys decide to read or even respect their opinion is on you.

It's also just a little strange how they pick some guys to just love and promote like it was their own kid. Look at Clausen last year with Kiper, and Gabbert this year with McShay. What did either do to deserve such praise? Makes you wonder if pay-for-play concepts reache slightly past college careers.

    • Don't look now, but a 3-game win streak, including 2 on the road in back-to-back games. The Canes haven't won 3 straight since the middle of November, over 2 months ago.  Canes held Dallas to 23 SOG, with a lot of those coming in a late game flurry. Canes have had some difficulty keeping SOG down to where we're used to seeing them. The Dallas game was reminiscent of the defense we saw early in the season- standing teams up at the blue line and making zone entry a real pain in the pads.
    • Agreed with a lot of this. Couple thoughts, especially towards the OL/future cap things... First, I hope Bryce is good enough to command being paid a Top 5 QB salary. Great news for us if so. But as of now, I think he'd be in that mid-tier range, so that $60 gets cut to 30-40. Baker to Stafford range. Obviously the cap will go up and $60 might be the new mid-tier, but either way I think we're fine here. He either continues to ascend and gets paid Top 5 money because he's that good and thank God. Or, he shows he's Baker level, gets a competitive offer that's outside the Top 10, and we're "saving" money (but also paying someone who may not be the "guy" in that scenario).  The OL is the biggest thing going forward IMO. You're 100% right here about the need for an OL, paying them, % of the cap, etc. Which is why in the next couple of drafts, we HAVE to absolutely nail a couple OL picks. We can't realistically tie up that much money in our OL. So we better turn into the Cowboys the late 2010s and constantly have a revolving cycle of a couple highly paid pieces, with drafted guys who step up and take their place once we have to move on. One highly paid OT, one highly paid OG, and then find rookie deals or cheaper vets that fit well.  Point being, we're teetering on the edge of a few foundational pieces being here now. IF, and history isn't on our side here, we can nail the next couple of drafts...we're in a good spot when it comes to the cap and future. If we don't find a couple of defensive cornerstones and find reliable OL depth that can take over for Hunt/Moton/Lewis as they age or contracts balloon...that's when we're right back in hell IMO. No pressure, Dan.
