Joseph Person tweets that Clausen might be traded this season

Clausen (+/-) will be headed to Seattle in exchange for Hasselbeck (+/-). Hasselbeck is an unrestricted free agent so this may not work, but I still think Clausen goes to Seattle if he's put on the block.

That is my call.

I honestly believe if the Panthers think CN is their franchise QB they need to get rid of Clausen and Smith. All of the QB controversy early on will be terrible for CN and divide the fan base. They need a situation just like Bradford's where they had a capable vet if necessary but who also knew his role.

Smith is the same way. The guy wants stats more than wins because he knows he doesn't have a prayer of a superbowl win here for some time. He is going to get extremely frustrated playing with a running quarterback who won't be able to thread passes to him in double coverage like apparently he expected all last season. The best thing for the Panthers is to get him out of dodge and let CN start with a fresh slate of receivers. They already brought in a new TE so no probs there.

i don't know if they run a west coast offense but i could see seattle trading for him...on a perfect day maybe we could get a 3rd for him but i would say a 4th or 5th is more likely

we would be lucky to get a 6 or 7th for him. I think we most likely get some bust that still has potential in a trade.

There are people out there that think his performance was based on Fox putting him in a terrible situation. We could get Brady Quinn value...3 or 4.

very few people employ a Josh McDaniels type guy as GM/coach. What he did w/ Quinn isn't something you can really use to compare.....he was retarded.

I don't know why you would trade him at this point because he has little value. Would be better to let him play some and hopefully improve his stock. Then again, if we need the roster spot we will have to cut him. I would think Pike would go before Clausen.

1. It would give Clausen a chance (this isn't the offense he will have a chance in and is basically a wasted year). He is a WC QB without a doubt.

2. It would clear a roster spot to be filled by someone who fits a better role on the QB depth chart AND fits what Chud does.

It ain't about what you can get for Clausen which is little if anything.....it is about what is best for both parties.

Clausen has a strong arm. He can push the ball down field if need be.

The evidence is mounting that he was hung out to dry last year by Fox and the rest of the coaching staff. If he had sat and Moore and endured that terrible season, we'd be having a very different conversation right now.

he played just like he did at Notre Dame. He needs to be in a WCO.

seattle is traditionally a WCO and the OC they brought in coached in minny for the past 5 years so it's probably safe to assume that they are one, although i'm not sure how i would classify pete carroll's offense.

seattle would make sense for clausen.

we could easily get a 4th for him. maybe a 3rd. depends on the sympathy factor for having to deal with a year like last year. if they blame fox and the situation for his level of suck, then they'll jump at him.

whatever it takes, though. i just want that pick. use it and the pick we get from trading smith and we can get ourselves a very nice WR.

I remember last year when they'd show our qb games played stat every game and it was like 5 between them or something. I don't want that again. If pickles get bounced I hope they have a plan to bring in someone that has played NFL qb before to help cam's development.

if I would take some of these posts as truth and walked the streets trying to sell them, I would owe society millions..

Whether we keep Clausen depends on who else we plan to keep or bring in. Newton is a lock but that is it at this point. If they still like Moore and want him back then it is Clausen, Pike, and a possible vet to battle out the third spot.

Frankly given all that Hurney has said about still being high on Clausen (unless it is a smokescreen, LOL) it is hard to beleive we would dump him given he is a rookie under a very cheap contract.
