Alshon Jeffery next year?

If we got Jeffery we would be set at #1 WR for the next decade. Think a slower but bigger and more consistent at catching passes version of AJ Green. He only started half of the season as a true freshman, then all of his sophomore season, yet is only around 800 yards from breaking the all-time receiving yards record in the SEC.

He's the real deal, and I definitely wouldn't be surprised if he has a better pro career than Green, Jones, Blackmon and Broyles. I'd hate if we lost enough games to be in the top 5 in picks next year, since there's no way he's making it out of the top 5, but I'd be more than happy if we got him.

Heres some highlights for him if you want to know more

. The catch at 12:35 is particularly insane.

Right? His playing weight is more around 235, which makes it more so impressive. He's not going to burn a corner that runs a 4.35, but he's more than shifty and elusive enough to get separation with not just his body, but also his feet. And at 235, he has the size and power to get YAC, especially if someone places a smaller corner or one not amazing at tackling on him.

As you can tell, I'm pretty high on him, but make sure you keep a look out for his name this college season, and especially after it's over, because analysts and taking heads alike are going to be gushing about him.

You guys all know way more about South Carolina football than I do, but Foxsports.com 'never too early' 2012 has us taking this guy 3rd overall next year.

I guess my question is whether or not he is a 'can't miss' WR ala AJ Green this year? My quick google said he is 6' 4" 230?? Wow. Would it be worth it to get maybe 5 wins and pick in the top 5 for this guy as this mock suggests? I'm not saying I want to win just five games but just wanted some insight to this guy.

Sorry, but Alshon made people say 'A J WHO' this past year in the SEC. The only reason AJ was the top WR in the draft is because Jeffries is a Gamecock. Alshon is my boy, from St. Matthews, SC. I personally hope his momma makes him stay in school to get his degree and give SC another year/shot at the SEC Championship. With Garcia self-destructing and no clear favorite at QB, unless a QB steps forward and proves to be worth a dern, Alshon will probably be #2 on the draft boards behind Luck next year.

After drafting a QB in the 2nd round last year and a QB in the 1st round this year, unless our QB situation gets even worse than it was last year there is no way we are going to make a play for Andrew Luck. That being the case, Alshon Jeffries is at the top of my draft board already for next year. He is THAT good and getting better. If he has a QB this season who can play he will leave no doubt about it.

Like I said, as a Gamecock and a Panther fan, I am torn - I want him to stay at USC, but I would also love to see him in a Panther uniform!

And to top it all of Alshon is a guy with a good head on his shoulders who stays out of trouble and is a great teammate. He is very humble off the field but turns into a beast who is capable of lighting up his side of the field each and every time he steps on the field.

Being on the west coast I don't get much quality football locally, but between the fifteen espn channels I get an ok amount of televised SEC football from time to time. I'll be sure to watch this guy this year, now I'm all pumped to see him in a game.
