You guys all know way more about South Carolina football than I do, but Foxsports.com 'never too early' 2012 has us taking this guy 3rd overall next year.

I guess my question is whether or not he is a 'can't miss' WR ala AJ Green this year? My quick google said he is 6' 4" 230?? Wow. Would it be worth it to get maybe 5 wins and pick in the top 5 for this guy as this mock suggests? I'm not saying I want to win just five games but just wanted some insight to this guy.

I watch a lot of USC games b/c my girl is a fan and Alshon is the real deal. I haven't seen any team or player that could cover him in the SEC - and if he is covered he just jumps higher and catches it. He isn't a speedster, but he is tough to defend because of his size and has great hands.

No, as a Gamecock fan I can tell you, he's no Green. Green is one of those can't miss Calvin Johnson type WRs.

Alshon is a stud, and right up there near Green.

But not quite on the same level as him.

Very close though.

We'll see how much Alshon develops this season. Perhaps he could be by season's end. Watching him annihilate Alabama this past season was jolly good fun.

Besides, we won't be picking that high anyways.

I know this goes against the grain, but if we happen to lose a lot of games this upcoming year, I won't be too mad. We are setting up for the future and early picks will be very convenient. I don't foresee our win/loss record being any kind of tell tale sign of our future success.
