I for one have no issues with Cam's playbook at Auburn. Yes it was simple. Even if it wasn't, the scheme was built on his running threat giving him a lot of discretion as to how plays were executed.

I absolutely think Cam has the brains to master an NFL playbook over time. But it will take him more time to learn how to play QB as part of a bigger offensive scheme, as opposed to an offense trying to play around him. But I think he can do that.

My concern with him is simple: 1) he has very little football experience at the elite college level and has no experience dealing with arguably the worst team in the league, 2) he seems to rely more on his natural abilities than his work ethic, something that doesn't bode well for the NFL where everyone is elite, 3) if he relies too much on broken plays and running in space he will be hurt very quickly and often.

If he can overcome these three things I think he can be a franchise quarterback.

If you listen to the presser he did here after he was drafted I think i gets it. Remeber the collard greens comment. He knows its a transition.. In fact I have never heard a dude say transition as much as Newton has the last 5 days.. He gets it.
