funniest or dumbest sh|t i've read this morning..can't decide

it's probably true, though.

they'll most likely be starting newton early in the season and it very well could be from day 1.

the vet they bring in will probably be someone who will be told he will have a chance to compete for the job, but who will primarily be there as an experienced voice in the meeting room and on the sidelines.

To believe this will happen you have to want it to happen IMO and to want this to happen this quickly for a rookie QB, ANY rookie QB is stupid.

no, that's not how that works at all.

like I believe you will continue to post. That of course does not mean I want you to post.

to believe this will happen means you want it to happen? lol.

i do think it's the best thing, btw, but that has nothing to do with my thinking it will. you look at what has happened with rookie QBs taken in the first round the past few years and tell me what the trend is. more than likely, the panthers are going to be doing the same thing. doesn't matter if you like it or want it to happen.

Because of the lockout and depending on when it ends, Cam could come in with less preparation than even the average rookie. If thats the case, I can't see him starting on day one.

If I were the coach, I would ease him in. I would have him come in the fourth quarter of the first preseason game so he starts out against the scrubs. Then gradually move him up. That is assuming we have a preseason.

From what Rivera has said up to this point, everyone will have a chance to start. The advantage of having a new coach is that they have no prior experience or bias with any of the players. He knows that he has to win and not 2 or 3 years down the road. As a result he needs to have the best players on the field from day 1. Any vet he brings in will surely get a chance to compete and win the starting job. If he plays well he will likely keep the spot. If he struggles then there will be ample opportunity for someone else to come in and start.

I doubt that Rivera feels compelled to start Newton right away although I strongly suspect they will have a package or two in there for him right away to give him some game experience and opportunity for film work.

As for Collins coming back, I highly doubt it. Yes Collins has developed and matured over the years but he flat out quit here. I just don't think he would be embraced here and would be a good choice. He will likely stay in Tennesee and mentor the rookie- Locker.
