kerry to cam to kerry?

Oh and by the way I hope you hadn't grown too accustomed to seeing cam do interviews for ESPN. That has ended.

This. Toward the end of the season Newton lost patience in interviews and didn't seem as cordial or into it, whereas in September, October, he'd see a person at a press conference he didn't know and maybe stop to say hi.

It will be interesting to see how he and Person deal with one another. This is the prime time for me to hate not getting to see Gantt asking Newton questions.

That said I wouldn't be surprised if Cam starts on day 1.

He's physically more suited to what Chud wants to do since he has the best arm on the team. If they can cater an offense to his skill sets and grow it with him, and it's successful, then who gives a fug.

I dunno, there's a ton of factors and we'll have to wait until the season starts.

I'm nervous about seeing him throw deep passes, I have some reservations there. Also I just look forward to seeing how his athleticism translates to the pro game.

well you shouldn't be nervous about his deep passes, they're the safest ones, especially down the sideline.

I saw every Auburn game last year but will stop short of saying I researched him "on film" because I don't consult YouTube for knowledge. That said I know he has the arm for it but it makes me a bit nervous that he might float up a few that Adams could catch at AU but would be a softball for a safety in the NFL.

That and seeing a deep pass thrown by a Panther still has me nervous because post-2007 Jake got me thinking, "Oh God, here's the equivalent of a first-down punt."

well i mean just technically a deep ball down the sideline is the safest throw in football besides a checkdown. Half the field is out of bounds and unless you throw it horribly or the free safety is Ed Reed it's not getting picked off.

F_ck Kerry Collins, keep him elsewhere IMO. I was done the day I read his interview, from when he was a Giant, that said something along the lines of "I always wanted to be an NFL QB since I was a kid. So when the chance came where did I go? Dallas, Washington or maybe Green Bay? No, I went to Carolina, a new team with funny looking uniforms." No. Hell no. Hell to the naw. Uh uh, no way, no how...

He never wanted to play for this team, needed a day off from mini-camp because the pressure was too great, and they were a month & a half from starting the season. Fug him, and the bottle he rode in on...

I went through the "Collins 1.0" disaster and I would still love to see Collins back in a Panthers uniform to end his career, I think he would be a great mentor for Cam.

Kerry Collins is our prodigal son, he needs to come home. I'm sure there's a part of Kerry that would like to come back here and do what he can to make things right. I've heard him repent many times about the mistakes he made here and the harm he did to the organization.

The interesting question is whether or not JR would have him back? I thought I heard Gantt mention at one point that it was out of the question.

I wouldn't hate Collins coming back. I know he did a lot of good for Vince Young at one point, who is batshit crazy and dumb as a box of rocks. It didn't last in his case, but Cam is no VY in that regard. Still have a tough time imagining it actually happening, but it wouldn't be a terrible idea.

And I will say this; anyone who thinks the Panthers don't have someone tutoring Cam on the playbook because of the lockout is dead wrong. They've got a LOT invested in this pick and are going to do whatever it takes to ensure it's a success. Hiring someone off the books to help Cam continue his transition during the lockout is something I can definitely see them doing.

as people get older, they get wiser to their fug ups and (for most intelligent people) they find a way to lower that ego..

I would be surprised to hear JR wouldn't have Collins back were he to apologize to JR in some fashion, or simply come together to talk it out..

of course, this would all depend on if the coaching staff were interested in signing Collins in the first place.
