how much do you tip your bartender?

Early in the evening or very light drinking just a dollar per beer. Which would at least be 50% if your going with the cheap piss. But it's the same if I get $5 tip. I'll tip if i sit at the bar and get a water which is something people sometimes don't do.

When i get drunk I tip WAY too much because i want to make sure im equalizing being drunk with money.

I really don't like places that want you to tip up front because sometimes especially if your out of town in a big group. You don't know how long you will be there or how much money you will spend. So you don't shell out too much but if you stay you might get drunk and forget.

i actually find that females tend to be the pootiest bartenders because the vast majority of 'em think they can make up for slackass work ethic and drink knowledge by waving teh tits.

I don't see the problem.

20% for decent, more for better. If I get something free the tips are ridiculous.

It takes a lot for me to lessen a tip, you have to not only be bad, but not care.

I tip everyone a little over 20%; servers, bartenders, barbers, etc.

This.

After you have worked in the service industry.....its just standard. Really Really Really have to try hard for me to tip you anything under 20%. I always give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

Having worked as a server, you know what it feels like to get tipped horribly....and believe me, I remember every single person that has given me a pooty tip. Karma bitches.

Oh, and all of you who "don't think we should be tipped because we didn't give you service up to your standards" can go fug yourselves.

I usually overtip bartenders. Wait staff 20% at least, sometimes more. I used to bartend and wait tables. so yeah, I know what its like. I overtip the girl who cuts my hair. I always get an appointment when I call.

I will say I never tip the people at Starbucks.. maybe I should if they are receiving below minimum wage and live off tips (which isn't the case, correct me if I'm wrong), but to hand me a cup of coffee, you have to be kidding me.

Depends on the service but I'll usually tip 20%. Unless you're a dick or screw up something, which I have experienced. Also if you're slow and it's not busy, or rather chat up the hot girl waiting for a drink next to me while I'm waiting for your services, tip goes down.

I honestly try to avoid female bartenders for the aforementioned reasons. Not that I don't like hot chicks but they tend to be lazier bartenders.

I haven't heard so much about women being bad bartenders.. then again, all I usually drink is beer and never require many mixed drinks. Even so, some of my friends are high maintenance when it comes to receiving quick service and a decent drink.

$1 per drink. If the bartender is an ass (like Saturday night) then maybe $1 for every two drinks. I've been known to not tip, but that's because of the hassle of having to break a 20 for ones for the tip. Although, I over-tipped a waitress one night. She talked me into 5 beers that I didn't plan on buying otherwise, I threw $40 at her and told her keep the change for her tip...my bill was $29. Granted, she was very hot.
