said it in the tinderbox thread... i think it's tragic that militant fundamentalist religious extremists have asserted such a terrible force against life and liberty that we cannot help but cheer the death of another human being.

it's easy to take this from a nationalist standpoint - THIS IS A VICTORY FOR AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - but from a human standpoint (the bigger picture which everyone likes to avoid) nothing has changed. nothing has been resolved. there are still bombings and killing and hate and violence.

getting revenge may be justified, but what now? are we any better for our victory? have we progressed? are we better?

why all the cheers?

Im cheering because this "should" be another step in getting out troops back home soon.

I see your point, however you answer your own question with your 1st sentence.

and that will most likely continue for another 2000 years.. that area has been plagued with war since it's beginning.

America could do itself a huge favor and quit financing war. Let the UN handle everything since they seem to have it all figured out.

btw, here is a a link.

from a nationalist standpoint we win.

from a human standpoint we are all losing, have been losing, and keep on losing. where's the victory?

I understand your point of view, but at least let everyone cheer about this. I'm usually the most neutral person around who reasons through everything, but...

I'm cheering. fug that mother fuger.
