So, about that pick...

I'm pretty sure Steve Smith was vacationing in Europe while Cam was going through all of that, yet nobody in their right mind is going to call him a lazy football player.

An established NFL vet vs a project rookie is not really a fair comparison

there is more hope that Cam does well than evidence per the offense he ran at Auburn. The nbc article pretty much sums up what Tom Luginbill said on local sports talk the day of the draft. Tom works for ESPN as a scout and was NOT a scheduled guest. Think about that. I guy who has no association with Charlotte felt SO compelled to call in to basically warn the Panthers NOT to draft Cam.

Can Cam learn and grow and become an NFL QB? Sure. Will he? Only time will tell.

what did you want him to say instead after that last question

"what's the first thing you're gonna do for momma?"

"um, pay for her to go on vacation. but not actually go with her, just her going on vacation by herself, without her son"

but here's the difference, Ryan Leaf, asked what he would do if he was drafted no.1 overall, said he'd just go to vegas and party. Even though he was selected at 2, he went anyway and partied hard overnight. So did Cam go on an overnight vacation before flying to charlotte to get some hours of work in before the tumultuous environment the NFL is in shifted back to lockout status merely that afternoon? The answer is he didn't, so stop trying to manufacture criticisms because you are a fear mongering fan that can't handle it when your team doesn't go the safe boring route.

Why the hell not? Steve Smith is gonna have to learn a new system this year just like Cam will, regardless of whether he's a Panther or not. Just because he's a veteran doesn't mean he can stop working hard. Being a rookie does not mean Cam can't have a vacation either. This is ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure every 1st round draft pick's first thought is "I've made it".

Again, show me one piece of evidence that proves that Cam isn't willing to work, aside from the opinions of the people who don't like him in the first place.

Nope. See: Peyton Manning.

I don't question Cam's willingness to work. I question his willingness to learn. Huge difference.

Pretty good chance that for Smith, the Panthers new system will look a lot like the one he knew under Dan Henning.

Then again, Smith may indeed have to learn a completely new system...with a new team :sosp:

Never said Cam couldn't take a vacation, just saying comparing the work needed for each is inaccurate. Any rookie is going to have more work to do than any established NFL vet.

Why would he not be willing to learn? That's just absurd.

Why are there good students and bad students? What I saw on those Gruden shows made me think Cam could be in over his head very soon. Like Gruden said, you're moving to France and you have to learn French.

If I was the Panthers I would let Newton sit on the sideline and watch, ala the Titans did with McNair and the Packers did with Rogers.

Obviously not everyone will ever agree with the pick the CAROLINA PANTHERS made selecting Newton.

No matter how upset we get about players, team matters, decisions, etc. None of us are somehow REQUIRED to remain fans of this team. I'm completely tired of the bickering and sulking about this guy.

It's done, the management of OUR TEAM drafted him.

Accept it and give your support, or tell the team to fug off and find a new one.
