So, about that pick...

Has someone already made the comparison between Cam Newton's ridiculously dumb "I'm taking a much needed vacation" to Ryan Leaf's "I'm going to Vegas!!!" response? Cause it's very much there.

Hurney must have gotten 4 new ulcers after hearing Newton's interview with Deion.

Well until the lockouts lifted its not going to really matter.

This. Furthermore, Cam has had a crazy few days. Taking a little time with his family, before coming back to study and work out, is perfectly fine. I really don't think a family vacation is the same as a bro-down in Vegas, either.

I think there's a big difference between looking your mom in the eyes and saying "we're going to take a vacation" and looking into the camera and saying "I'm going to Vegas baby!".

When you consider the context of what Cam's family has been through over the past year, deserved or not, you can understand why the guy would want to take them on a vacation.

I really didn't think the comment was that big of a deal, the very next day in his presser he said he was going to get to work right away... and then he did.

Didn't like that he said it on the stage after being picked but like I said right after the pick, this might have been something he and his family had already planned due to the lockout. Now that a window was opened so he could at least get the playbook, plans might have changed. There's also the fact that everyone, including Peyton Manning, go on vacation so give the kid a break.

Sounds like he's being coached.

I'll hold my nose and try to like the pick just like with Jimmy, but I think the result will be the same. Worse when you think about it.

haters gonna hate

Cam is a sharp dude. His press conference was great. If he is "being coached" like you say he is delhommey, then I see that as another positive. Why? Because he sure can take coaching well.

The guy has been working out with his QB coach, at the combine, with several teams, and with Gruden pretty much since the NC game ended. If he wants to get away from it all for a week or so and take care of his parents in the process, who are we to tell him no?

    • Is this the wrong place to ask?  Help me please!!   I'm taking my 12 year old to his first game.  We would like to get there early.  Are there any kid friendly tailgating areas?   Thanks in advance
    • Honestly Bryce is a conundrum right now I'm not really sure what we should do with him but I am content on him being the quarterback number one going into next season. I think we should allow him the chance to play out the season to prove that he's the quarterback he can be going into next season.  I would not waste a high draft pick on a quarterback because I'm not sure anyone in this up and coming class is as good or has the ceiling that he had with that said I wouldn't throw away the future I would bring in someone like Justin Fields to have him looking over his shoulder and give us a plan b if everything doesn't go right on a one-year deal. I think the priority right now if tepper wants to make a big splash is find a way to get Travis Hunter that would be option 1AA because he helps with both sides of the field either way whatever you need defense or offense. Make that happen and then go mostly defense the rest of the way and we're cooking.
