All of these guys seem to think that Peppers will be around for the long term.

I started thinking, what if he does want to stay? Why wouldnt he want the tag? 2010 uncapped and he gets franchised again at 20 million for the season.

I saw that live on NFLN. I had expected Gruden to give us one of his patented "I never liked to play against Julius Peppers but he's a heck of a player" coach-speak lines.

At this point anything can happen. I'm not holding my breath.

I doubt the same guy who turned down the oppertunity to be the highest paid DE in HISTORY will stay because of the chance of getting "paid"....

Pep has made his status clear; Panthers is not where his heart is.

His image is tarnished in Carolina. The best thing he can do is move on. If not, he needs a change of heart.

I think Peppers will be here next year - after that it's hard to tell, his tag salary swelling to 20 million for the 2010 season would probably be the breaking point for the Panthers.

Think back to the begining of last season...the NY Giants would have easily given up two 1st round picks for Peppers after Strahan retired and Osi went on IR. They ended up not needing any help but they seemed desperate to begin with. Things like this happen every season so if you are the Panthers, why rush on trading Peppers? Even if he starts the season with the Panthers some team might want him before the trading deadline, you just never know.
