In my opinion, what happened to the Falcons is they got an over inflated sense of their team after feasting on a weak schedule in 2010. Then they made an ambitious move thinking they were closer than they really were. I think they will drop a couple more games this year, simply from the difference in schedule.

If they were going to trade up, they should have taken Peterson (If they could have traded with Zona) or Fairley.

Those players would have had a much bigger impact than Jones.

Hopefully they get stuck in draft day purgatory like the Panthers for the next couple of years. Trade 2013's 1st to move farther up in 2nd, trade a 2nd to get a third...you know the stuff smart teams do to get better.

Atlanta's defense got destroyed by Green Bay. They are going to have to make some improvements there before they become a serious superbowl challenger. Otherwise, they are going to be one of those teams that score a lot of points, but can't stop anybody.

Flawed argument.... as I stated yesterday Green Bay lost in the playoffs in 09 because their defense got destroyed and gave up 50 + points.... So what do they do??????

They drafted Offense with their first pick.... The two defensive players they drafted barely played at all....

So what happened???? They won the damn the next year.

I feel just the opposite. Throwing away long term talent for short term gratification never seems to work well. Ask the Panthers.

So a top 10 pick is now considered Short term gratification??? On a young team with many starters set I doubt those 2 4th round picks will hurt. Oh that 55th pick this year was going to be a stud for them....

And that late first rounder next year is such a need.

This is becoming a passing league... just look at the draft. You need to keep play-makers around your QB.

Also having a solid #1 playing along slide White will do wonders for that team... Think back to Harrison and Reggie Wayne.

Now since Roddy is in the middle of his career, by time he is on the decline Julio should be in the prime of his so there is never a drop off.... So throughout Matt Ryan's career he should always have top talent at the WR position to pass to.

So this is not only a short term, but a long term solution as well.

Good teams never get the chance to draft top 10 talent like that. Also the players on the NFL top 100 voted by the players.... almost 60% of them were drafted in the first... maybe like 11% in the 2nd.....

So if I had to choose between a top 6 pick, or a late 1st round with a late 2nd round.... I'm taking that top 6 pick.

How many receivers in this league would you trade two first rounders, a 2nd and two 4ths for? If any it sure as hell wouldn't be for a rookie, let alone Julio Jones.

Actually, they were loaded on both sides. Green Bay has been a good offensive team for the last three years. But they didn't come close to winning a Superbowl until Capers built a defense. In fact, both the Superbowl teams had top 5 defenses.

Also wanted to point out that Green Bay forced four turnovers and sacked Ryan 5 times in that game. That had a little to do with the lopsided score.

First they jumped up to get Julio Jones, and now they just drafted Punter/kicker Matt Bosher from The U. I am not looking forward to the pooty field position or the 65 yard game winning field goals for years to come!

I know they gave up a lot for Julio, but it's obvious that Arthur Blank and Co. Are doing whatever it takes to win. They had an awesome draft! Fug!!!!!

My arguement had nothing to do with basing it on one game. My argument was that Atlanta or any other team needs to build on both sides of the ball, or they become one dimensional. Atlanta has added some weapons, but unless they improve defensively, they aren't going to be nasty.
