Carolina's 4th Round Pick: Brandon Hogan, CB - West Va

Strengths:

Well built and strong for size. Elite athletic tools. Decent overall speed and quickness. Great ball skills; a converted wide receiver. Experienced on kick/punt returns. A hard hitter for a cornerback and a reasonably reliable tackler. Could potential play some free safety in the pros. A tough all-around player.

Weaknesses:

Serious character concerns – enough to remove him from some draft boards. Arrested for a DUI and arrested again just three weeks later for driving with a suspended licence. Was suspended indefinitely after the incident but was later reinstated. Also cited for disorderly conduct in a separate incident 2010. Missed parts of spring practices in 2010 due to academic issues. Suffered a torn ACL in December, potentially limiting his availability for the 2011 season.

Comments:

Hogan has legitimate starter potential but far too many concerns to warrant a selection before the 6th or 7th round. If he is able to stay healthy and out of trouble he has plenty of upside, but some teams may simply believe he isn’t worth the trouble.

This pick >BL0WS<!

What, did Rivera/Carolina lose a bet?!

Hogan's 'Rap Sheet' is longer than his list of 'Strengths'! There were as good if not better CBs available without all the baggage and drama!
