I'll just say, that if we are picking #1 next year and Luck declares.. I'll gladly accept the MULTIPLE first rounders + other high value picks/possibly players other teams will be throwing at us.

yup

If we have the number one pick...I doubt it. But if we do...we will be loaded because we will be trading the pick away.

Some NE fans seem to think they're stockpiling firsts/seconds to make a move for Brady's replacement.

like seriously think about it

next draft there will 100% for sure be a rookie salary cap. that alone will skyrocket the value of high first round picks.

then if Luck can repeat what he did last year his value will only go up(if that's possible). look at how many teams reached on guys like Ponder/Locker/Gabbert/etc this year.

I bet we could get 3 first rounders out of it

If the Panthers do get the #1 overall pick again next year, and its possible with the tough schedule, then they have to take Luck. They could then trade one of the 2 with Cam being traded.

Or, they'll trade out of #1 and have a bounty of top draft picks bigger than Rex Ryan's ego.

I honestly think there's absolutely no way we're the worst team in the league again, even if we don't play or start Cam until halfway through the season.

I mean, it's almost a consensus among scouts, GMs, and talking heads alike that Newton is a better runner and passer coming out of college than Vince Young was, yet Young almost led the Titans to the playoffs in his rookie season, ending up 1 game short of a berth. Given, the system Young played in at Texas had more complex verbiage than what Newton had at Auburn (pretty much none), but he should be able to pick up more than enough to net us at least a few wins.

Rivera said himself that Newton got better at taking snaps from under center and at reading plays/coverage and understanding verbiage each successive time they met with him. If he got better at this in the off-season, imagine what he can learn once our OC and QB coach get their hands on him for the first few months. Plus, it's not like he hasn't taken snaps from under the center before. Hell, he did that in JuCo all the time.

The whole under the center thing is a little blown out of proportion anyways, since around 50% of snaps by starting QBs were taken out of the shotgun in 2010. Peyton Manning took over 70% out of the shotgun. Now, I'm not comparing him to Manning by any stretch of the imagination, but it goes to show that he doesn't have to drop back every play in his first year to be effective.

If you keep all that in mind, I don't possibly see how we could pick #1 next year.
