Panthers owner Richardson puts Cam Newton on the clock

Please explain to me how a tattoo contributes to character evaluation. PLEASE.

Unless you have somehow found a way to post on this site from 1957, then this is the most ridiculous thing I have heard on this board to date.

It's a good read for sure and I can see it's place in the present situation.

Bit it is *is* a piece of fluff. I've written them before and all the signs are there.

Access to Richardson isn't easy to come by, and Sorensen knows that. He's not going to take that rare access and crap all over it.

Let's put it this way. Richardson could have sacrificed a Bald Eagle to Shango right there on his lawn and bathed in it's still-warm blood while completely nude (except for his ceremonial crown of kitten skulls, of course) and Sorensen wouldn't have reported that. Richardson could have ripped a tremendous fart while groping Cam Newton's mother and said, "Damn! Check out the muffins on this one, huh?" But he wouldn't have committed that to the written word.

Sorensen was playing the game here, like all writers must do on occasion. And that's okay.

I just doubt that this article is a completely accurate snapshot of the event. It probably captures the mood or general sentiment to some capacity, and I guess that's what really matters. I would love to have been a fly on the wall, though.

Calm down no one is screaming HE'S A SINNER HE'S A SINNER... it simply states to me that he doesn't follow trends and can hold strong to the things he believes in. In todays hip hop culture it is big to get tattoos all over your body (Wiz Khalifa,Chris Brown,Tyga look them up if you don't know them) this is spreading ALL amongst young America.TO ME it simply shows that either he is a Christian who doesn't believe in tattoos so he's holding onto what he believes in, OR he simply doesn't like them and isn't swayed into being someone he's not by society. No I wouldn't draft someoneone above another over a piercing, but I just feel it gives a more professional/clean look and can say a lot about someones character.

Edit: and if THAT is the most ridiculous thing you've read on this board you DEFINITELY haven't read a lot of what's on here lmfao

What a weird contrast. Either he's a Christian, a member the biggest organization of people who try to sway others into being someone they're not, or he's someone who isn't swayed into being someone he's not. I think I've gone cross-eyed.

My Fav part was Richardson say he was not a choirboy and that he told Shockey to keep the attitude. People dont realize how much of an impact Fox had on this team. Richardson allowed Fox a lot of rope. The choirboy thing was more Fox than Richardson.

I didn't mention character, so don't put words in my mouth. I personally have tattoos, but as the face of a NFL Franchise (QB) I think it's important not to have them, and Mr. Richardson seems to feel the same way.

That quote and the fact he seems to want to respond to the criticism he's getting says a lot to me.

Cam still has a lot to prove, even to me, but he is doing and saying the right things so far, and that's a pretty good start. This transition won't be easy, but there is not one single flaw in his game that can't be improved with hard work and good coaching, so I'm very optimistic.

Everybody here should give the kid a clean slate and the benefit of the doubt. To keep complaining if you didn't want to draft him, is just a waste of time and energy at this point.

    • There's much of nothing coming out this time of year, but here's a vid that I believe that many fans need to internalize because it speaks to expectations for the 2024 season.    There's nothing really new, but I'd like to point out that one of the few things that I personally learned is that D.J. Wonnum's contract is only guaranteed to the tune of 10 percent. The analyst in the vid is a Vikings guy, and he has seen all of  Wonnum's plays. He says that Wonnum disappears for big stretches, and of course, as a Panthers guy, I couldn't help but think of Brian Burns' disappearing act for stretches as well.  To paraphrase and kind of give my two cents, Panthers fans should be somewhat optimistic about all of the potential on offense (but not crazily so), and be somewhat worried about the pass rush and defensive backfield. We're thin at both, but hopefully we can at least be competitive based on the offensive side of the ball. This is not to say that we won't be better on defense, but being so thin at rush and on the back end, we will be lucky to substantially improve.  One more note is that I believe he's somewhat of a Young apologist, as he didn't really mention Bryce's bad play specifically, taking the position that we just don't know what we have in Young based upon the sh¡t show in 2023.  I could argue the point, but what's the point? We'll have to see what Bryce has got when surrounded by much-improved talent and coaching. Check the vid out; it isn't so long, and though there are multiple reasons to be skeptical about the defensive personnel, last year produced a couple of stats that should indicate that Ej knows what he's doing. Like the analyst said, we'll hopefully do for the defense in the 2025 off-season, what we did for the offense this off-season.
    • seems like Necas is acting like a pestilent spoiled brat, we have to sign Drury and this is gumming up the works - also looks like we now have to trade Necas for draft picks or fingers crossed get out of KK's salary
    • Was talking about Necas going to Arbitration. Jarvis expected deal is around 6.75x7 unless they do a bridge deal for like 2X5 or so.    so if Jarvis signs his expected deal that leaves around 4m for Drury and Necas.
