NBA Playoffs Rd 2: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Dallas Mavericks

The Lakers have a rapidly aging superstar, a soft #2, absolutely no PG, an overall old team, horrible chemistry, & a coach who's likely to retire.

Yup, nothing to worry about.

Oklahoma City is a piece or two away from being the dominate team in the west, not LA.

Or L.A. is a trade or two away from raping everyone again like the last two years....the people calling this the end of the road for the Lakers are hilarious. What are they going to say next year when the Lakers are one of the strongest teams heading into the playoffs I wonder....

Kobe Bryant & the Lakers are washed up, did you not watch the Mavs series? :ack2:

Phil Jackson, Fisher, Artest, & Bynum are all gone. Besides, there's not even gonna be a 11-12 NBA season.

The last game was crazy! I was given suite tickets to it (I live in Dallas) and the crowd was insane. The moves by Bynum and Odom were bitch moves, but Odom's wasn't nearly as bad.

The play before Odom shoved Dirk he shot 2 free throws and Odom shot a practice one before his 2nd one while Terry was coming in which Dirk rejected w/ authority and the crowd laughed. The announcers actually thought it was a technical b/c the refs came running in blowing his whistle for the dead ball. After his 2nd FT they run down the court and Odom tries to run Dirk over. Dirk goal tending the practice shot wasn't shown on TV, but the announcers think someone is getting T'd up at this time, so that's what went on there to heat up Odom.

As for Bynum, just a straight up sore loser move. With losing so horribly, the crowd chanting sweep L A, and then starting up the na na na na, L A, good bye chant, I'm sure the whole LA team was ready to kill someone, but Bynum reacted like a bitch and should be suspended for quite some time and fined heavily.

I wouldn't say this is the end of the Fake show, but Kobe honestly does not look the same. He had hard times driving on 38 year old Jason Kidd and Deshawn Stevenson. Most people are just saying this loss is b/c LA is bad now, when in fact it has a lot to do with the Mavs playing almost near perfect ball and are a pretty great team.

It's nice to get exposure after sweeping LA, but Dirk has been dominant in the playoffs for a long time. This is probably the most solid core around him since 06 and it's showing. Scary to think how good we'd be w/ Butler and Roddy playing. Hopefully we can take this 6-0 streak to 14-0 and one of my teams can finally get a ring!

Last year it was Delonte West and Gloria James that affected the Cavs play, now it could be a rift between Gasol and Vanessa Bryant.

Just a rumor but here is a bit on the situation

Perhaps more than anything, the notion that Pau Gasol can be this team's next great leader was swept away. His sudden and odd postseason disappearance was the most obvious reason for the Lakers' troubles, his fall completed Sunday when he scored 10 points while being pushed around by everyone but his coach, who thankfully refrained from hitting him for a second consecutive game.

"I have to learn from this," Gasol said. ''I have to learn that when something happens off the court, you have to keep it off the court."

He was referring to the report that he stopped talking to Bryant during the postseason because Bryant's wife, Vanessa, had contributed to the breakup of Gasol and his longtime girlfriend. Lakers fans will remember that Karl Malone once publicly accused Vanessa of interfering with his personal life in a similar fashion.
