It bothers me that the Pats are getting lumps of praise from media types over this pick when none of their draft picks this year have really gone to positions of imminent need (they need OLB/DE help in a bad way).

the Pats are strange drafters, they continuously trade back, but at what point? They had two first rounders this year, and get two next year? At some point you have to draft football players, it seems to me like they don't like anyone

Also they desperately needed a pass-rusher, maybe they are looking to trade or get one through free agency- maybe why they stockpiled picks

However I do think that the Mallett pick up was perfect for the Colts/Pats/GB/SD because there would be no calls for him to start there and he could learn how to be a pro.
