B/c he's f*cking the game up. He should step in and get the owners to back off... He drew the line in the sand, his "player conduct policy", and then allowing the owners to lockout, hide money/books, and pretty much destroy the product.

The players offered to give some back from what I understand, and the owners didn't accept it (players offered 50/50 and they're currently making more than that IIRC)... Goodell has been siding with the owners and their ruining the league.
