Question for defense enthusiasts

Say we nab a defensive player with a first round grade with our 65th pick. Are you going to feel better that we drafted Cam, and more comfortable on the defensive front?

Better yes, but not satisfied. We have been neglecting the interior DL for years now and this is why it's in this sad shape currently. The last time we attempted, seriously attempted, to fix the issuse was when we brought in Kemo from the Ravens. However, even then he was a bad scheme fit. The rest have been Band Aides, excuse me, Dollar General sanitary strips.

At #65, as deep as this draft is at DT, we still won't get a really solid guy because I see another mini-run on DTs in round two. Paea will be gone.

If we end up getting a player at the level of Stephen Paea, Marvin Austin, or Jarvis Jenkins, then yeah, I'd be pretty happy with the Cam selection.

But, we still have a lot of holes to fill. We need a CB. We need Oline depth. We may need to get a receiver...

This team has always been about the D !!! Stop the run and pound the rock.

We might can run the ball but we are for sure with this roster not going to stop the run. No DT === no Championship

we're getting away from that archaic philosophy. Ron doesn't just want to stop the run, he doesn't want the opponent to gain any yardage in any way, and honestly, given today's league and how the passing game has become such a big part of all these offenses, it's a better perspective

Rudolph will go to Denver

Dont think so I think there target is a DT. If Rudolph falls to our pick we got to take him. He will be a good TE for Newton and he can stretch the field. And plus Shockey is kind of injury prone. I feel better getting a DT in Free Agency. Another option at our Pick could be Greg little the guy is a stud.

what i'm saying in that last post doesn't mean we're not going to draft a DT. If we do, I think it will be a guy that can penetrate instead of just eat space

near the end of his run, fox loved his run stoppers. Kemo and Brayton are very good at stopping the run, but they're not gonna scare your QB or pose any kind of threat to him. So naturally we were worse at pressuring the passer than we were with Peppers/Jenkins/Buckner/Rucker, all guys who had ability to penetrate (if they were interior linemen) or get pressure from the edge

Jenkins might be there, the others...not a chance unless we move up. I'm done with trading up.

Peppers/Jenkins/Buckner/Rucker, ah yes, our Super Bowl defensive line. Memories.

Brayton is marginal against the run and Kemo was a human tree stump, BTW.
