What QB would you like to have backup Cam Newton?

Trade Cam straight up for a 31-year old Carson Palmer and the Panthers will automatically win 4 more games in 2011.

Maybe, but you do remember the Cincinnati game last year, right? Palmer tried to throw about 7 interceptions. If you want to trade a number 1 overall pick and the future of our franchise for an over the hill, injury prone quarterback that is considering retirement for 4 more wins in one season you are being completely short sighted. I truly don't understand that logic.

I see the Panthers actually going a completely different direction on this question.

I think Armanti Edwards is the best pick for backing up Cam Newton.

WHY!?!?

I get the feeling that Ron and Chud are going completely outside the box on this one. I don't think they are going to just script a few plays for Cam to go all out on, they are going to design a whole play book for him. From roll outs to rushing plays they are going to heavily emphasize the "X" factor Cam gives them. Why teach Cam the pocket passing game when he's best in space and on the run? If you want to win this year, you don't.

Cam Newton isn't just any QB, he's the next generation of the Cordel Stewart / Michael Vic play style. If Ron is right, we are about to start a wave of change that will engulf the NFL and dramatically change the way the game is played forever. If this is the case, The "X" style Armanti Edwards played at App State will be his ticket to being a Sunday QB.

If we cant get a veteran QB aka Vince Young... or Donavan Mcnabb... then let Jimmy Clausen stick around. Im very interested in seeing how Jimmys career shapes up now. I have a feeling that he's gonna come out like a gun slinger with a HUUUUGE CHIP on his shoulders. Should make for a very good QB controversy.

My prediction: The Icon wins...

Would be nice...similar style of QB. But does McNabb really want to sit on the bench, and for how much $$$??? Is he even leaving Washington? They had a shot at Gabbert and traded the pick.

First off, Clausen WILL be gone and will likely be in Seattle for either nothing or a 6th or 7th round pick in 2012. As for the backup, Matt Moore will be re-signed IF Clausen is traded or cut and Pike will be the third string and Newton will start, you dont draft him that high to sit on the bench.

As for McNabb leaving Washington, it's happening, they want to trade him, but it's doubtful to happen. the Redskins are likely going to either sign Vince Young as a free agent or sign another free agent QB or go with Beck at QB, my hope is that they release McNabb, trade Haynesworth for Vince Young (another team's trash for another team's trash) then let's see how that plays out for them. Maybe a fresh start will help Young's career and losing Haynesworth is a must. and if you cant get a QB for him, do it.

My absolute dream is for the Panthers to somehow get a package together to offer to Cincy in order to scoop up Carson Palmer. I have absolutely no problem letting Carson take the offense for one or two years and mentor Newton. Carson seems like the kind of guy who is sick and tired of the circus in Cincy and wants to lead and win games. I think he'd do well being in a mentor-type role. Plus, they're both #1 overalls and Heisman winners. Carson could feed Newton a wealth of knowledge.

Is it gonna happen? Nope. But it is my absolute dream.
