Everyone says hurney sucks in the second round. Why? Cause he picked Shelton, Jarrett, and colbert? What about kris jenkins, mike rucker, deshaun foster, ryan kalil...

I think you need to look at other teams draft histories before you say hurney sucks in any round. He's been pretty successful in early rounds.

Hurney didn't pick Jenkins or Rucker, both were here before he was. I don't know how much credit he deserves for Foster either, I never thought he was very good, especially after some injuries.

Hurney's not as terrible in the second as people claim, which was you point, but he deserves some criticism for some of those choices.

it's not really about where you pick, it's trusting your board..if there's a guy available on your board that eclipses everyone else that might be there when you draft and you have to move up a couple spots to take him, you try and make a move.

Yeah we should just stay put.

I was just listening to Todd McShay and I thought he was an expert on drafts? He mentioned that Cam comes into a situation with no talent around him b/c the Panthers havent drafted that well in the early rounds in the last few years.

First of all, we havent had any 1st rd picks since 2008. We actually have picked very well in the 1st rounds. Its trading picks thats whats killed us.

Lastly, no talent around Cam? Lets see...

DeAngelo Williams - Pro Bowler. 1st round pick. I have no doubt he will be re-signed.

Jonathan Stewart - 1st round pick. One of the best backs in the game.

Jordan Gross - Pro Bowl

Ryan Kalil - Pro Bowl

Jeff Otah - 1st rd pick

Wharton - very good OL

Jeremy Shockey - Pro Bowler when healthy

Steve Smith - isnt gone yet. Things can change but best WR in the game

LaFell/Gettis - good potential

Cam couldnt have come found a better team and a better situation to fall into than us. I once hated Kiper and loved McShay. Suddenly, that has changed.

only people saying this is a bad situation is someone who has no idea what the situation is..

Rivera is a defensive genius. one of the best in the league.

Chud is a HIGHLY regarded offensive guy.

Shula, if he's good at his job as the 2 guys above seem to think, should be a valuable tool to groom Cam.

Our defense was 18th and on the field longer than any team (IIRC).. we have one of the best running games in the league (fug last year)..

we have talented receivers... especially if Armanti can run a decent route in the slot.

so, yeah.. this is a horrible team to surround Cam.
