Trade Peppers for Matt Cassell?

CRA and Brandon... I'm sorry, but those Cassel is a bust statements are crazy. Watch this highlight video I found on Youtube. Forget the fact that Cassel is throwing to Moss and Welker for the moment... his throws are put in the perfect position for run-after-catch, and where the defender can't get to it. Also note how many long passes are dead-on. Bellichick can scheme and game plan all he wants, but you can't fake accuracy and precision passes!

Having watched every snap Cassel played this year, he is the real deal. People who call him a "system QB" really weren't watching the games...]

NO.

He's not the "real deal" as you will see when he lands somewhere without the stable of WR the Pats were able to put on the field for him. He's closer to Tim Couch than he was to Tom Brady. Whoever takes him will regret it.

ANd a few highlights from youtube won't change that. Akili Smith had a highlight video too.

The EXACT same arguments were made for Mitchell. I'm sorry but I just don't think he'll do as well outside of NE. He's not a "bust" per se but merely a mediocre QB. If you show a bunch of highlights you can make just about any player look good.

No need to forget who he is throwing to....he struggled this year making reads and throws downfield. BB rebuilt his offense around what Cassell could do. One or two highlights don't change that he struggled going downfield and would tuck and run when asked to look downfield and option #1 wasn't there......Cassell wasn't accurate going downfield this year. His great stats (and he did have them) were largely a product of a pass game that was used as an extension of the run game AND a dink and dunk pass game. No one was even close to Cassell this year in his attempts dinking and dunking his nothing throws that would turn into 20+ yard gains at times.

Value is dictated by supply and demand. A starting NFL QB has very little supply and very high demand. I would argue that Cassel has a higher market price than Peppers, simply because of the position he plays.
delusional.

move along.

bad idea.

not going to happen.

You must realize that as well as he performed this season, his ceiling is much higher. You could see him improve after each and every game in the first season he ever started since high school! Also, this video is quite nice...

unless you are willing to run a similar scheme BB did and have the personel to do it...Cassell isn't worth much at all. He is VERY flawed at this stage and BB pulled a magic act with him. You think he really has it put together w/ a high school resume and 1 season under BB??? Dude obviously can't read a defense downfield and make reads which is why he struggles with his accuracy downfield and takes off running too much......AND he shouldn't be able to yet (he is way behind on football time and needs a lot of work). He had success b/c BB overall didn't make him hardly do anything. Yes, he had one or two throws but they were heavily outweighed by his poor performance when asked to do something out of the dink and dunk.

I'm an open Fox hater (even during the good times) but this is one of the few times his conservative nature would cause him to do something I agree with.....he would never gamble w/ Cassell as the starter at this point in time.

I think that Cassel would do fine on our team, considering that we are probably going to run the ball 45 times a game next year....but hell, Jake will probably be just as good, but for how much longer???? They are going to have to address the QB situation some time, and this board is going to blow the fug up when that happens.

I think most Jake supporters realize that and will support it......but you gotta groom someone or bring in someone better. No point making a lateral move at QB when we have so many other needs.
