Trade Peppers for Matt Cassell?

I'd totally agree with that, if he had one bad game, but he had many many shaky games in the season, and it's been a roller coaster ride. I love Jake, his fire, but I also understand that he's not a franchise QB, and that he's not the best, but I think we'll do decent with him, but could do better, and that's what you should strive for.

I can agree with most of that. But I don't see Cassel being a big improvement over Jake.

And had you watched Cassel in the 2008 preseason, you would have said the SAME EXACT THING ABOUT HIM.

Except that Moore HAD TIME TO PLAY IN REAL GAMES THE PREVIOUS SEASON, STARTED A FEW, BUT YET CASSEL DIDN'T.

And yes I understand it's a gamble on Cassell after one year, but unless Brady gets hurt, he won't ever be able to show anyone that year 2, which kind of sucks for him. It still falls into taking a chance category, but I understand why you wouldn't want to do this trade.

Moore couldn't get it done in PRESEASON. The coaches had so little faith in him, they got McCown and dropped Moore to the 3rd spot.

Oh, and unless we get rid of Fox, you'll be winning games 33-30 for along time.

Umm, you do know that when the Panthers got McCown it was because Matt Moore was injured, right? Could that have slipped your mind?...

Value is dictated by supply and demand. A starting NFL QB has very little supply and very high demand. I would argue that Cassel has a higher market price than Peppers, simply because of the position he plays.

Do you honestly think Matt Cassel is going to net a higher trade offer than Julius Peppers?

Would you wager your house on that?

I saw Cassel in real games prior to 2008 as well. A comparable instance to Moore is the significant play time he got in 2005 as a rookie in their last game of the year. My main point though is that it is awfully hard to judge a guy on preseason. I certainly don't have the knowledge or game film or what the staff's objectives were when the guy was in there, etc. to do that.

Did Moore every get moved to #2 on the depth? No, did THAT slip YOUR mind cool guy?

Sorry, I didn't realize how seriously you're taking things, didn't mean to piss you off. My observation was saying the McCown wouldn't be here if Moore didn't get injured and he would be #2. The Panthers were lucky to find McCown available. I only brought that up because you were misrepresenting Moore by that omission.

I wouldn't wager my house on something like that, but I think you guys are underestimating what a team would trade for him. I mean, Matt F'ing Schaub was traded for 2 2nd round picks and a swap of 1st round picks. And look at the draft day deal between the Giants and San Diego, the chargers were able to get a kings ransom for swapping players (one of which they turned into Merriman). The fact is, all you need is one team to pull the trigger on a QB trade, and history is on my side.

I'm not pissed off, I'm just trying to make the work day go by faster... it's not working. Well, you know, I wouldn't mind Moore having a chance to compete with Jake. Fox probably won't let that happen though. Heck, if McCown, I think we need our QB's to know that if they can't get it done we'll find someone that can.
