Trade For McNabb

Squirrel, I'm with ya on the idea of acquiring him, but...

I don't think McNabb is ready to be a someone's stable pony, which is essentially what he'd be. I could be wrong, but Im guessing he wants to go to a place where he's gonna be THE guy, where he's less likely to end up in a situation like he did last year.

With McNabb having ties with McDermot and Rivera he might be willing to comedown here.

I dont believe you would have to trade for him, I believe his contract makes him likely to be cut.

I wouldnt want to trade for him.

One of the contract's most significant points is a payment due, when the Redskins must decide whether to pay McNabb a $10 million option bonus. If they do, it would trigger the rest of the contract and make Washington liable for McNabb's $2.5 million base salary in 2011.

The exercise period on the $10 million option bonus in McNabb's contract is between the first day of the league year and the day after the first game, according to an NFL Players Association source. This means Washington can go through this winter and spring before it makes a determination on whether to exercise the $10 million option bonus payment in McNabb's deal.

I know the Skins are retarded, but I dont seem them forking over that money.

Pandora box will open up on Monday with Free Agency. When that happens rookies will not be on a rookie scale. CBA is all or none cant agree just on a rookie scale.

Yea but teams don't HAVE to sign their rookies when free agency opens up, just like they don't HAVE to sign any free agents. They can easily just wait til the CBA is in place. Contracts usually take a long time anyway. They could easily just sign the 3rd round or 2nd round and later guys (since they wouldn't be affected by the cap anyway) and wait for the CBA to go into effect. If rookies can hold out for their contracts, surely GMs can too....

I can't think of a worse idea. Trade for a WCO QB who's best days are clearly behind him, AND who wants to start? Ever see what happened to Jeff Garcia when he tried to go Coryell in Cleveland and Detroit? If all you want is a mentor, hire a retired QB as a personal coach and save the roster spot for someone who can contribute. If you want someone who can play, then find a QB that fits the system.

BTW, when has anyone ever described McNabb as a positive influence on young QBs? I'm not saying he isn't, but what's the source of the assumption that he is?

I like the idea and think it would be great for Cam. If done properly Mcnabb will be a 'poor man's" mcnabb after he is done with Cam lol.

problem would be as mentioned if Mcnabb wanted to start, if he came here he'd be done, like Jake in Cleveland.

You don't invest the #1 pick in the draft and $50 million to sit someone on the bench. Cam will be the starter. Panthers definitely will not and should not go out and spend another $50 million for a 1 year gap filler and mentor.

Well, then perhaps he should go to hell. J/K

People here really live in a dream world if you think the Panthers are going to go after a high dollar free agent to hold Cam's hand.

No one is saying really anything other than 'it would be nice'. get a grip this is a message forum not a 'only things that are and will be in stone' forum. Jesus. You also don't pay a guy 50 mil and pick him #1 just to fug him up without giving him a little time to learn. Cam is a special #1, he's only had on year of college. Packers paid Rodgers for 3 years. Sure it wasn't as much money, but that money isn't just to pay Cam, it's an investment to protect their investment. Iw would rather Cam start when they feel he can contribute successful rather than just becasue he was the #1 overall.
