Reactions after the pick

Here's one you'll appreciate.

When I told the one kid what I was gonna do if he didn't get his hands right, I didn't do it angrily or in a mean way. It did seem to get the point across though. A little later, when the fella who's the main coach stepped away briefly to talk to another coach, I took a moment to step in front of the kids and said "all right guys, show me how you catch a pass".

They all got it right, and quickly. The image of them all standing there like that made me think I was at a meeting of the junior division of the Diamond Dallas Page Fan Club :lol:

Wasn't there myself, but I remember someone on TV saying it was unanimous cheers when Newton was announced. They boo'd the commissioner and then when he said Newton it changed to cheers.

Heard at my draft Party right after cam was selected "Jimmy clausen just threw his remote at the TV."

His comment that he was going to go on a "well deserved vacation" really bothered me. I hope he said that without thinking it through. He needs to be reading a playbook with his mom and dad helping him learn this morning!

I changed the channel - not happy with the pick.

Don't get me wrong, I'll support the "team" and hope all works out well.

But there is something about him that gives me pause:

- 1 single year of college success (surrounded by lots of talent)

- criminal history

- surrounded by controversy with his dad and back door arrangments

Flame away, but I just can't get behind him until he proves he is the player everyone thinks he is. I just don't see it.

I'm wondering how long before there is breaking news for some new controversy.... trouble in a bar, late for meeting, DUI....etc. I'm totally shocked JR accepted someone with baggage for a change.

Auburn didn't have lots of talent...it was bascailly the Cam and Fairley show vs. the SEC.

Well my head dropped when the NFLN cameras focused on the Panthers contingent and they were signalling the pick was in straight away cos I knew what was coming. I haven't picked it up yet. Very, very disappointed.

Auburn didn't have lots of talent...it was bascailly the Cam and Fairley show vs. the SEC.

Auburn had the #2 ranked offense in the SEC (and one of the top ranked offenses nationally) last year before Cam Newton. Make no mistake, Cam willed that team to win many games, but they had a good offense before Cam. Cam had help, not only in players but great offensive coaches. That's no knock on Cam. The fact he was able to move in and do what he did was very impressive. I hope he can repeat that success at this level.

Now, before Fairley gained a motor, Auburn was awful on defense. That defense lived and died with how far Fairley penetrated, man.
