I love how Rivera shoots straight, and I love how much he believes in Cam. I was kind of neutral towards the pick, but every bit of info I hear from Rivera makes me feel better and better about the pick.

It really sounds like they busted their balls to make sure Cam wanted to be the best, and until he shows otherwise, I'll trust their judgement. I'm behind them 100%.

Well, that did it. I now believe in Cam Newton, because Rivera told me so. And damnit if I'm going to be the one to tell him any differently.

Love Rivera and thus with that presser I'm ready for the Newton era to begin.

And BTW I loved his responce on Newton starting. "He will start when he's ready." He wasn't answering a question and was declaring this.

I just listened to this thing. Right at three minutes, Rivera said something that for some reason stood out.

"Our wide receivers need to grow up."

noticed that too. either a message to steve smith or, more likely, brought on by a foregone conclusion that smith is already gone in the mind of rivera.

fine with me. we'll use some of that cap space to get us a good vet WR and/or we'll be getting something decent out of a trade.

ideally, the trade will involve a 3rd round pick (or something like that) that we will turn right around and package with another late round pick (or a jimmy clausen) for an upgrade from smith.

absolutely positive they are going to use designed runs with him as a ball carrier... they are going to plan on him scrambling and extending plays but Rivera was impressed with his ability as a ball carrier.

also it is neat that they are challenging cam to get himself ready for the NFL game... said he'll play as soon as he is ready.

Rivera has a really intimidating persona. Even my buddy's wife - who pretty much never pays attention to football - acknowledges that from the video she's seen us watch. When we read that his first coaching job was a pee-wee team, she said "Oh, those poor kids" :lol:

(we imagined them looking up at him saying "please don't eat me") :eek:

Now, that alone won't make him a great coach. But if it turns out that he is one, that persona will sure make watching him entertaining.

Hurney and Rivera are sold on Cam's character, work ethic, his natural charisma and being a born leader. I loved the part where Rivera spoke about how Cam will make defensive coordinators around the league redesign their defenses to thwart Cam's impact. Rob Chudzinski is going to design a whole section of the offense based on Cams ability, that's impact.

Looks like JimmyC is going to be a backup until we can trade him for a 4th round pick and a bag of peanuts. He was never going to be a franchise QB, and it is now apparent that neither Hurney or Rivera have any confidence in JC.

"Will you sleep good tonight? Hurney- I hope so.. "

I hope so too..
