If We Draft Cam, Should He Sit A Year

fox kind of had personnel choices taken away from him (which was the right call, imo).

fox was more or less pushed into starting clausen by hurney and i believe richardson who wanted to see what clausen could do. moore wasn't proving squat on the field so it wasn't like they were going to losing much more by benching moore.

Fox: "Yeah Matt, so I benched you last year in favor of Clausen. Yeah Clausen stunk it up but I still felt he gave us the best chance to win. But I'll go ahead and let you start for my team if you want"

Matt: "Sure where do I sign"

*Denver fans torch Fox's house*

 Yep that's exactly how it played out. No mention of Moore starting after the bye, which I told you would happen, and no mention of the injury forcing Clausen back into the game.

No mention of Fox saying he didn't have personnel decisions and basically didn't want Clausen on the team.

Let's make up our own facts

Moore was healthy to start again later in the year but didnt right? Opinions don't equal facts.

the reason i would get him involved early is because it is an investment. that would also dictate what my expectations were for him as well as what i expect to see from him as he grows as a starter.

i wouldn't expect playoffs first year and i wouldn't even expect a >.500 season. i would expect to see growth, an ability to adapt to the pro game, his leadership in the huddle increase, and getting down the field and on the scoreboard. mistakes would be expected as would losses. the positives in his game would have to outweigh the negatives (which is why i had no problem getting off the clausen wagon).

That a very interesting perspective and one that I can respect. Where I would probably differ is that I don't think Newton is prepared to physically handel the mental part of being a NFL QB. Meaning, while he can throw and run he doesn't know how to pull the offense together in a huddle and then break the huddle. Very, very fundamental stuff but he hasn't done it before. Not that he can't do it bu just hasn't.

I love dance and one of my favorite shows is So You Think You Can Dance on Fox. (I know what some may say but I don't care.) Some of the most physically gifted dancers are the these beatboys who do breaking and were self taught. Even though they are extremely gifted they often look completely lost even doing hip hop chorography. These same guys, given the time and classes, would be amazing doing anything. But they need that time and classes and some get it way faster than others.

My point is that I agree with the basis of your perspective I don't think Newton's positives currently outweigh his negatives. Let that be the baseline and then look for the growth.

why? what would be the point? goal should be to get him in as early as possible. only thing that should be debated is the max # of weeks he is allowed to sit. the minimum is zero.

good answer.

stunt his growth just like it did big ben's, matt ryans, mark sanchez, matt stafford's, joe flacco's, sam bradford....

Are you seriously comparing Newton's football knowledge to any of the QBs above? Really? Cam Newton is ready for the NFL physically, but no where near ready mentally.

Lot's of Panther sources in SD??

I've hinted at many things here, before you were a fan, during the regular season that just happened to turn out to be true.

Usually when I say something like that, I have a reason for it.

My predictions and analysis are of my own doing though, which is why they are incorrect more often.

My other information is top notch.
