Lets go ahead and forget the notion Peppers will be a Panther anymore.

Clayton was reporting like we were actually planning on keeping him for the 09 season.. pfft..

we need to get a 1st and a 3rd for him.. it be stupid to walk away with anything less, because if we did give him his walking papers, we would be given a 1st round compensation pick next year, right?

3rd is the highest comp pick I believe.

What are the odds that Hurney is saying how they really feel? I put it at around zero. No GM worth his salt tells Clayton or any other media outlet what the team's real plans or thoughts are. He could want the media to be trumpeting that stance so Pep and his agent hear it over and over from other sources.

^I don't give Clayton any credibility tho.

It's completely against everything this team likes to do if we end up with some Media Circus Peppers Watch kinda thing at training camp next season.

Not to mention the locker room problems it may or maynot cause.

Most of the time they know jack sh*t about our team.

I agree about that, I'm just saying.

It's called posturing. Peppers/Carey did it the last couple of weeks, now it's our turn...

Yea I certainly hope so, but we haven't had to deal with this yet as a team, so I am not sure how to think.

And believe me, I want him traded, just for the right price.

I have said Peppers wasn't wrong this whole time, and was just trying to do what he wanted. I still don't hate him, or feel so mad or bad like some others. But poo we better get some good compensation for this.

Now it's time for the Panthers to play their hand, I just hope they pull out a Royal Flush, Full house, or something of the like.

I also drop this for my arguement.

If they REALLY wanted to keep him, why put a non-exclusive tag on him?

There are two types of franchise tag designations: the exclusive rights franchise tag, and non-exclusive rights franchise tag:

I think they are holding out some sort of hope that they can keep him around. They put the non-exclusive on him because no matter how much they value him being here, they would value two first round picks more. Two first rounders is HUGE. Why eliminate that possibility?

Poison Pills and the like really throw a wrench into that kinda thing.

It's ok, we can disagree. :)

I never said I disagreed with you, I was showing you all the viewpoints. That doesn't mean they are my viewpoints or that I want them to happen.

I just merely said its possible that they do want to keep him.

I think that has some merit considering they said they did want him earlier this year, and they tried to sign him last year.

I already told you what I think, and that is the only way he walks is with a 1st rounder in the Panthers pocket.

Unless that is what you disagree with :D

This is a negotiation, and this was Hurney's first warning shot to any team that might be interested in Peppers...don't think you are going to get him for a steal, we can, and will, keep him before accepting anything less than we feel he is worth - i.e. a 1st plus other pick(s).

I would like the team to move on from this as soon as it can. I'm sure the team would like to, also.

I'm not going to hold my breath for 2 first round picks, or any great compensation.

I will watch events unfold ~ but I will also do so with zero emotion involved.

Just want what's best for the Panthers, and to move on from this mess.
