Will we ever be able to smell/feel/taste the internet?

As humans begin to adjust to our decaying planet and we all eventually become cyborgs, will the internet provide an outlet to experience sensations of life in a virtual setting? Will you be able to escape to the digital world for hours, days, weeks on end with an endless amount of totally realistic experiences?

This sounds like something out of Brave New World, or the movie Inception - borderline Matrix. I don't think were that far away from it. I have this vision for the future where when a child is born, a chip is implanted in the brain that accesses the internet, which every human being is plugged into through their chip. We can all communicate without speaking, instantaneously, and access all the information in the world. We all live in a virtual society in our minds.

Seem possible? Scary? Is it really that farfetched?

If they ever came up with holodeck technology, everyone will not have a need to live in the "real world". They could just program up their fantasy world and never leave. Men would just sit their virtual pron star world and women would live in a virtual world filled with the ultimate kitchen appliances, irons, vacuums, etc.
