Didn't want to make a new thread......but would anyone be shocked if Fairley goes before Dareus?

I think most agree Fairley has the better upside.....and it has been a real mystery watching Fairley slide down after being everyone's inital #1 overall.

i suppose i'd be fine with it, but my major problem would be whose going to be throwing him the ball? i don't like anyone who is currently on the roster for the job, i don't like any of the perspective FA QBs out there, i don't really like anyone else in this draft and am definitely not in favor of selecting a QB outside of the first round. trading for a franchise QB would be far more expensive than what we would have to pay newton.

it's not ideal, but he could help if we miraculously got a QB worth a crap.

i'd just rather us look for a vet WR to go along with the youth we already have at WR.

Did you notice the QB at Georgia who was throwing to AJ Green? Exactly, but he was a bad QB but Green was so damn good he made the QB look good.

AJ Green is the type of WR that will make the QB look a lot better than what he really is. Kind of like when Panthers had some QB by the name of.. who was it... oh yeah, Jake Delhomme. Smitty made Jake look like a probowler, and trust me it wasn't Jake that was that good, it was Smitty that made all the amazing catches and break out plays.

Vince Young is very similar to Cam, he could be picked up without wasting the 1st overall pick.

There's just way to many what ifs with Cam to be a #1 pick. If he turns out to be a bust then Carolina as a franchise will be pushed back at least 3-5 years.
not buying this at all.

can't be any worse than sitting on collective asses doing nothing. inaction is far worse.

what would be worse is getting some old vet to come in and start for a couple years while we keep looking for someone to drop into our laps or hoping that someone already on the roster can eventually become the franchise QB. that plan could really set the team back 6-8 years.

I am definitely buying it, the 50 million dollar price tag for Cam will be a hard hit if he doesn't pan out. Of course that number could change but as of right now thats that 1st overall pick QBs cost.

That it was finally time to get rid of Hurney aka the Eagles and Patriots best FO man. Oh and that Rivera is not the coach promised to the fans from the the panthers ownership earlier in the year. I mean we were promised a big name coach. Really if they want green fine trade to 4th pick up a second and take him there.

WRs don't win games. they make plays, but they don't win games. how did the bulldogs do with their stud WR?

Our biggest problem for the past few years has been offense. In particular 3rd down conversions.

The offense can never stay on the field long enough to give the defense a rest.

Although I think we need to address the DT position, drafting a threat on offense is a great idea.

The only reason Gettis and Lafell got any playing time was because our WRs suck.

Drafting a WR like Green could be the best thing we do. We may have to plan for it anyway when you consider Smitty may want out.

Draft Green and sign a veteran QB to play this year while Clausen learns. And then maybe draft a QB next year.

My top 5....

Green

Dareus (only because it's such a huge need)

Peterson

Jones

Gabbert

I would be really shocked. Fairley is a 3, Dareus can play anywhere on the DL even in a 3-4. Hes better suited to do what teams want to do... and can play more spots.

he won't cost $50mil, but even with that...it's just money. it will take up a little cap space, but it will balance out. money isn't all that big of an issue overall. you swing for the fences when you are in the panthers situation. if you miss/fall on your face, then you swing again. if you aren't willing to take risks/gamble, you won't win rings.
