If anything, Leaf's endorsement of not taking Cam, is a very positive sign that we should take him.

Oh, also... Newton is about 10 times more athletic and is a better QB than Leaf was in college.

And one more thing... Newton's work ethic is where it needs to be. He's about succeeding in the NFL, and proving his critics wrong.... not gambling in Vegas.

I'd say the best people at spotting busts, are the GMs who don't draft them or sign them, and instead sign franchise talent.

There was no point and he was a terrible example. Luck was a terrible player, so again why would his opinion matter a hill of beans. He thinks Newton will screw up because he did. He has no idea how we plan to use him or whether we sit him or not.

You posted it because you are a hater, plain and simple. But get it all out, it will make it easier to accept him, in the event we go in that direction. If we don't, then all of the angst was wasted for nothing.

It's important to remember for those of you that support Cam Newton that just because you want to gamble on a late first round/The Golden Calf of Bristol-ish talent with the first pick does not mean he gets the slack of a late first-rounder. Expectations should be very high. Bradford and Suh were rookies of the year last year. If you are trying to dumb down expectations then you are picking the wrong guy.

Unless they modify the playbook and simplify like they did for Moore and Clausen in years past, they won't expect him to start. Hopefully this is well thought plan to build for the future. They will either have one of our own vets start or pick one in free agency. I think after we saw what happened with Clausen last year, we learned that rookies starting are not always a good thing. If Newton is the best option he should play. If he isn't he should sit regardless of how much we paid to get him.
