I think Scout's is giving the more conservative rankings, others are just placing Newton higher on assumptions he'll learn in the NFL for first time in his career how to Pass accurately, read defenses and become a pocket QB.

When did Scouts Inc ratings Matter? Oh that's right when its used to validate your excuses not to take Cam..

its proof that if Panthers take Newton, they are either smarter than everyone else or gambling the future of the Panther franchise.

Its one of those moves, that will determine if the Panthers are the Detroit Lions of the 2010's or not. Drafting safe here, looking for a Vet QB and target next yrs first rounder for an elite QB prospect is much safer route.

Well I'd rather take a chance on Cam then some of the limp d@% QBs that have been taking high in the first round over the years..If you've looked into it the Panthers have probably done more research on Cam then anyone out there has even tried. They probably know what he ate for breakfast on 5/12/03 or something like that..If they are satisfied that he's the player they want I'm in no position to say they are wrong until proven otherwise..

Cam Newtons not even a consensus top 10 prospect much less Top 5 and we are picking him #1?

Drafting him is all on the assumption that in the NFL, for first time in his career, he will learn and master: Passing Accuracy, Reading Defenses and playing from the Pocket....this is why its a huge gamble and a polarizing pick if they do it.

It feels like the Panthers are taking out a second mortgage on the house, going to Vegas and doubling down at the Roulette table.

it is just like Tampa Bay said....they would have taken Josh Freeman #1 overall if that is where they were sloted.

thats alot easier to say in hindsight and when sitting on #1 wasn't even an option for them.

I'd feel much better taking Newton where Freeman was in first round, which is where he should go but not because QB's in this draft aren't highly rated this year.

I think Tampa said that prior to him blowing up....

Need matters.

Since when does the player with the highest passer rating in NCAA history NOT warrant the number 1 pick for a team that badly needs a quarterback and a franchise player?

I don't usually jump in on these discussions, but this is just absolutely ridiculous. You obviously have done no research on the players, and are relying on one persons opinion about where a player should rank.

You are entitled to your opinion, and if you don't like Cam Newton, and don't want him to be the first pick, then fine, but for the love of Christ, don't try to back you your inability to do your own research by posting one list, and swearing by it and prophesying the doom and end of the franchise.

Have some faith in the people that are making educated and informed decisions, and just STFU.
