Next up, Geoff Hangartner

I'm shocked at the Hangman's Wonderlic score. A 47 is remarkable. The average score for an O-lineman is what? 26? A 47 would probably be the average score at CERN.

I'm a big fan of smart players. I've been a fan of Hangartner's for a while, but now I really hope we hold on to him. And we really only have 4 starters locked up on the o-line. Is there any chance that with Bridges' recent indescretiions that Hangman could start at RG?

Hangartner got the second round tender last year when he was restricted. I think Jeff King will get it also. It is not any huge difference in money over a regular tender and I think he has proven his value to be worth more than a 5th round pick. The Panthers can not afford to lose his blocking ability which is his strength just to gamble on finding another replacement in the later rounds of the draft or a mid level free agent.

Think about it like this, Seward got a regular tender last year (5th round) and he still got a look from a team. Consider what Seward has accomplished verses Jeff King. The Panthers would probably lose him with a regular tender. If we want OL coninuity, he needs to be part of the equation.

So far we have not heard anything about Vincent being release or too injured to come back next year and he has one year left on his contract. Right now it is best to assume he will be back to full form. But having Hangman back would be great insurance.

Bridges future with the team is really up in the air. His behavior off the field might be a red flag. Plus the contract extension he signed a year and half ago puts him as a somewhat overpaid OL backup. However he is a OG/RT blend and that is huge at saving roster spots. Fox loves versitile OL guys. If Hangman is extended before free agency begins next week, Bridges might be a cap casualty.

His versatility notwithstanding I wouldn't be heartbroken to see Bridges cut. As long as Keydrick is good to go, however.

Especially with our cap space. We're currently ~$10 million over the cap. Sure, trading Pep will help that, but that still doesn't leave us a lot of room considering all the work we have yet to do. There are going to have to be some painful cuts somewhere.

What good is trading back into the first round if you don't have the space to sign your draftee?

Crossing my fingers for Hang-man to stay, want King back too...he's solid.

I would also like them to think about starting to develop another LS. I know that they tried Barnidge out there in TC last year I believe and I know LSs can play a long, long time, but it wouldn't hurt to have another guy who can fill in in a pinch.

We need to keep Hangman, especially if we deal Peppers, give him the money. For a offense BUILT on the run game, it's worth it to pay a bit more to him. He can play like 3 positions, think about that. I'm glad he wants to stay here, his comments are definitely smart and it just proves his intelligence. We need to keep people we WANT here. Then we don't have to draft another backup and HOPE he's good.

We need to keep King too, he's not flashy, but he's a good TE, honestly our best in a while.

Mark Jones is getting left out too many times, he was huge in our success last year, he's earned a deal guys.

He's at least earned himself a shot in camp to try and out play robinson for the returner positions.

It's good to see us working on keeping our own. It is easy to forget we were a 12-4 team (you are what your record says you are...) with how badly Delhomme ended it for us.

I hope we can ship peppers sooner than later so we know where we draft in the first round this year and see what is out there in FA that can assist the pass rush.

Based on on-field performance, Robinson should be having to try and out play Jones for the position. I do like Robinson as a WR and think he could actually develope into a starter in the future but at KR duties I just haven't been impressed.
