BTW people love to discredit what he did in college I swear with that statement he's basically saying Cam was great in college but ala Russell he'll bust in the league :nonod: Cam wants to continue to be great we all know he'll have to put in the work to do so.

Who in this thread is comparing Russel to Cam? The point was that Russel said the same thing and that got him no were. One thing is to say it and another thing is to actually go out and do it.

Will Newton do it? Time will show. I think his personality is as good as it get in pro sport. But to be great in NFL it takes more than just personality and god given athleticism.

If we do take Newton, the one thing we have going for us is that he NEEDS and LOVES to compete. So I think we'll avoid the Jamarcus comparisons... I just dont know.. at #1 he needs to have a HUGE impact in a positive way, and I just see Dareus and Peterson being able to make that happen more than him.

I want to be the number one pick, as well. I'd love to goto the [insert team with the #1 pick here]! Going #1 will help me be motivated forever and ever. Oh, did I mention that I'm a fan of [insert team with #1 pick here]?

It's the same song and dance we hear every year. Why do people even say it anymore? Of course we know he wants to go number 1. I'm sure Anthony Castonzo wants to be a Panther. I'm sure that Mike Pouncey would love to be a Panther.

Cam Newton wants to be a Panther because 50 million dollars are awaiting for him.

(I'm not saying that the kid doesn't have the "drive" to be great, because honestly, I don't know if he does or not. I think it takes a very unique player to come in and lead a team to a National Championship in one year. I'm just saying that a lot of players would love to goto the number one team, mainly because of all the money and publicity that comes with it.)
