Sal Paolantonio says you can't be a phony infront of Rivera

With all due respect, we've provided much more evidence that he does want to be great than anyone has provided that he doesn't...

I'm not trying to brainwash anybody into liking Cam, everyone has the right to their opinion, but I think some of the stuff about Cam like this "desire to be great" thing is absurd.

He didn't say that Cam didn't want it. I think his point was that lots of guys want it, and want it badly and are willing to do whatever is necessary to make it. But that doesn't mean they will get it. I have no doubt that he wants it. I have no doubt that he will work hard to get it. But as with any rookie, wanting it isn't enough. He actually has to prove that he has the ability to do it. And having the ability to do it in college doesn't mean he has the ability to do it in the pro's.

What evidence can you provide that 'wanting to be great' is a guarantee of success?

There are loads of guys who hope to be great on an annual basis. Not all of them succeed.

Take a look at the past 20 years of quarterbacks who have won the National Championship and/or the Heisman (some have won both) and take a look at their records in the NFL. Then try and tell me again that it's an indicator of pro potential.

I never said it was a guarantee, but if you don't want to be great then I can promise you that you won't be successful.

I'll see your 20 years and raise you a Sam Bradford, how do you explain his success based on his national championship and Heisman?

Step in as a starter and go 14-0, win national championship, Heisman and in particular come from behind against Bama all while being under the intense scrutiny of an NCAA investigation and the media.... at least that's the criteria Bill Parcells used.

There are certainly more than 3-4 guys that could do that. Many of them didn't have to do it, doesn't mean they couldn't. If Newton for some reason, had decided to play at Duke instead of Auburn, and managed to win 6 games, would you still be singing his praises?

Rivera I believe... Not buying it for JR based in his track record in past drafts... He drafted Rae Carruth! Also drafted Jimmy Clausen... And for those of u who are thinking of bashing this post because "he doesn't draft players"... He owns the team. Anything that happens in his organization is a direct reflection upon himself.

With that said, he has a huge opportunity to draft Cam... I believe that you can't fool Rivera, it's hard to trick a Hispanic male, let alone we already know ge has a no BS policy..

This just makes us warmer and fuzzier on Cam. I like it!

Come on man. How the hell was he supposed to sniff out that Carruth was going to be a murdering asshole?

What exactly has Sam Bradford won other than 7 games? (and that in the NFC West)

People cite Bradford as if he had a Super Bowl ring. He hasn't dona jack yet.

Chris Weinke had a Heisman and a National Championship too. Didn't mean much.

it's more about everything he did in college/juco, not just his one year..he took mediocre and no name teams to championships and lead them on his back. people seem to be acting like people do what he did all the time.

The jury is still out on Bradford, but so far so good - right???

Is it over the last 10 or 20 years that Heisman winning qbs have sucked at the pro level?

Bradford seemed to rejuvenate one of the worst franchises (over a 3 year span), in his rookie year.

His team didn't make the playoffs or get a winning record, but he did look very promising out there at times, last season. I think the kid is on his way to ending the "Heisman Curse" if he can keep it up.

The Golden Calf of Bristol is another one that looked good, though in limited action. I don't factor him in one way or another though, because we all know how great a qb can look in limited games, and then absolutely crash the next season (Moore).
