Sal Paolantonio says you can't be a phony infront of Rivera

I haven't seen that much of Newton but when I do see him, I can't help but be reminded of the character played by The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) in the movie "The Game Plan". If you haven't seen the movie, it's about a partying, self-centered QB who plays selfishly thinking the game is all about him. Of course it being a Disney movie, everything works itself out but this isn't a Disney movie and I can't help but think Cam will always be about Cam.

Cam is arrogant and that isn't necessarily a bad thing, Tom Brady is arrogant as hell and has been from day 1, he told Kraft on the day he was drafted (in the 6th round) that it was the best move they ever made... how arrogant is that?

cameron may have changed, he may be a genuine good person...doesn't make him a good NFL QB

I understand and acknowledge all the questions about how his skills will translate to the NFL, I think those are totally fair and valid... but I don't get where this stuff about "he doesn't want to be great" comes from based on his body of work?

So winning two national championships and the Heisman doesn't demonstrate that Cam is willing to do what it takes to be great???

He won one that matters in the most gimmick system in football. The Heisman is more media and pure stat driven than about the best football player and you should know this.

No, he hasn't proven anything to me. Play in a System this isn't Gus Malzahn's and do it for 2-3 years with no off the field issues then we are talking.

Even though you can't even find people who went to his High School who says Cam was a me first kind of guy, people still form these opinions out of the blue. I bet a years worth of earnings that people wouldn't have formed these same opinion about Luck.

He won in the system he was given, he did what he was told to do and won championships... it's not fair to conclude that he can't do anything else based on that.

I just don't see this kid doing what it will take to be Elite. I mean when you pick a guy #1 overall that is the goal right? Not average, not good, not very good...Elite.

You already admitted you are biased and don't like him. You also believe people can't change which likely reflects your characteristics which is that once you make up your mind, you don''t change your mind or act differently. So honestly, with that kind of mindset already it hardly looks as if you are even open to see how he does and give him a chance. I hope someoene did that for you when you were 21 unless you were perfect and didn't make mistakes.

As for me, I have 30 years experience helping people change every day. Changing isn't hard at all. All you have to do is make up your rmind to do something different and embark on a new course. Staying changed and not falling back in old habits and thinking patterns is the problem. Most folks don't change until they have to, often long after they know they need to. Newton from my observation knows he needed to change and has embraced it. He has made great strides and continues to work hard every day. People who think they are right and don't need to change are much more of a problem than folks who readily admit they need to change and take positive steps to reform.

Cam reminds me of Kobe where his confidence/will to win has him hated and considered cocky. While being loved by the home team at the sametime haters are hating now but gut feeling they come around when/if he's productive.

Winning national championships is a team accomplishment, not an individual thing. Its not an indication of how he will do in the NFL.

You didn't watch many Auburn games, did you?

Go back and watch all the games and then tell me how much of a "team effort" it was.

Did his offensive line not block for him. Did his defense not keep the other team from running away? Second ranked rush defense in both total yards and ypc. Did the specials teams guys sit on the bench and let Cam go out and take on all 11 players on the other team by himself? The guy is a football player, he is not Clark Kent.
