Sal Paolantonio on Mike & Mike this morning brought up an interesting point, he knows Ron Rivera well and says Cam couldn't get away being a phony with him, Rivera would sniff that out from 5 miles away. Also said you couldn't get away being a phony with JR and JR was very impressed with him.

Rivera I believe... Not buying it for JR based in his track record in past drafts... He drafted Rae Carruth! Also drafted Jimmy Clausen... And for those of u who are thinking of bashing this post because "he doesn't draft players"... He owns the team. Anything that happens in his organization is a direct reflection upon himself.

With that said, he has a huge opportunity to draft Cam... I believe that you can't fool Rivera, it's hard to trick a Hispanic male, let alone we already know ge has a no BS policy..

This just makes us warmer and fuzzier on Cam. I like it!

I am the firm believer you can't change the true character of a person, go read the story of the Scorpion and the Turtle. Cam was a thief and a cheat and even Mayock has issues believing this kid will try to be elite.

I don't like him, I don't like his lack of football intellegence, I don't like the system he was in, I don't like he couldn't beat out The Golden Calf of Bristol (and no he couldn't because he wasn't good enough. Myer would have put the best QB on the field). I don't like the fact he ran from Florida before getting booted etc.

He could be black, white, orange or purple with pink polkadots so that is a non issue. I don't want the kid as the face of this franchise and I feel a few years from now we will be right back where we are now with no Franchise QB.

Ridiculous statement. So JR was suppose to somehow know Carruth

was going to be murderer. Really? Also Jimmy Clausen isn't a good player, no one has ever accused him of being a con artist. Don't see what he has to do with the topic

People can change, I did stuff when I was 20 that I wouldn't dream of doing now. Have you ever stole something or cheating on something? I know I have, and overall I consider myself a pretty good person with flaws just like any human being (who is willing to admit it).

We'll never know if Cam would have beaten out The Golden Calf of Bristol given enough time, but I think it's unreasonable to condemn a freshman QB for not beating out the incumbent starter. Heck, Tom Brady couldn't beat out Brian Griese for the starting job at Michigan and that worked out pretty okay for the Pats, right?

Scorpions and turtles can't change their character because they are much less sophisticated than humans, people can change and 20 year olds do stupid stuff.

I think Cam is a genuine person he is just being interviewed and filmed SO much that occasionally he has to go into autopilot and just give generic "phoney" answers. Imagine getting the attention he gets. It has to be pretty grueling.

Given enough time, I feel certain Cam would have beaten out The Golden Calf of Bristol for the starting job at Florida, but we'll never know. I just don't see this kid doing what it will take to be Elite. I mean when you pick a guy #1 overall that is the goal right? Not average, not good, not very good...Elite.

So winning two national championships and the Heisman doesn't demonstrate that Cam is willing to do what it takes to be great???

I haven't seen that much of Newton but when I do see him, I can't help but be reminded of the character played by The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) in the movie "The Game Plan". If you haven't seen the movie, it's about a partying, self-centered QB who plays selfishly thinking the game is all about him. Of course it being a Disney movie, everything works itself out but this isn't a Disney movie and I can't help but think Cam will always be about Cam.

      Free Agents NTs: I'm hoping we get DJ Jones and bring him home. We have to be getting one of these guys right? RIGHT? I Know they "claim" EJ "likes" undersized NTs for his scheme but I'm more apt to believe that Tuttle was just the best they could get with all the dead money and EJ was just saying he could scheme with an undersized NT not that he prefers it. In what world would you "prefer" your 3-4 to not have a traditional NT? Makes no sense to me but I feel it is honestly the biggest weakness on the team, moreso than Edge or #1 WR but getting one of these NT's in FA fixes it. For reference this is Shy Tuttle PFF:  DJ Jones PFF:   Similar stats but twice the run defender at the same position. Would help a lot. DJ Jones makes $10M AAV Shy Tuttle... $9.4M AAV, he has GOT to go. Cutting Tuttle would save $6.5M on the cap, then go pay what you have to to a real NT so we can stop the run next year.

      I would say I wouldn't care about getting rid of this #8, provided one of the better guys doesn't make it to us(McMillian, Graham, Johnson, etc). But I mean that for a top flight WR, not just a "could be top flight WR." I mean like Garrett Wilson, Tee Higgins, etc.  But all future firsts are off the table and nothing more in the first three rounds, IMO. No more insane trade rapes like we have been subject to during the Tepper era.
