The Panthers Cant take Newton

Cam Newton is rated no higher than 15 on ANY expert Big Boards (evaluating the talent...not a mock draft). Hell, he is rated in the 40's by many.

The moment that you start reaching to fill a need like that, you have already lost the game. Deperate and crappy franchises make moves like this.

The Panthers are going to struggle next season no matter who we pick at #1. The talent at QB is MUCH, MUCH better in next year's draft.

Say we pick Cam. Even the Huggers (most anyway) believe that he needs at least a season to learn to play the position in the NFL. So, we are picking top 5 next year.....have no idea whether Cam is the bust that many believe or the superstar that many believe. Therefore, you CANNOT take a top QB in a good class.

Then, Cam struggles to learn a complex pro offense (like many experts believe he will).

You have just set this franchise back 6-8 years.

You take a flyer on an athlete that could develop into something in the latter rounds. You do NOT take flyers on guys that you HOPE can learn the position and get it at #1 overall.

If we make this leap, this will go down as a MUCH, MUCH worse gamble than the Armanti deal ever will.

No offense, but f*ck those "experts". The only "experts" that matter are the ones in our front office and the scouts that work for our team. Whichever player we select, I'm down with, because I know our experts have done their research, and have dubbed them worthy.

This will be looked back on as one of the greatest nights in Panthers franchise history and I cannot believe that we have people griping

Wow... you have some pretty high hopes there.

Chances are greater that this will hurt this franchise for years. And it's people like you that are putting pressure on the organization to take this pick.

Nobody envies the Panthers right now. I hope they have enough balls to not get in to the hype and make the best selection for this team. And that isn't Cam Newton.

But I guess they'll be comfortable gambling their jobs away.

Screw it, draft Cam. It'd about time this team take a chance in a player with that much upside. Tired of watching boring football. Cam scored 50 td's by HIMSELF last season in the best conference in college football. Plus he is going to be reminded daily that folks expect him to fail, he seems to driven to let that happen if nothing else just to prove ppl wrong.

That sounds just like The Golden Calf of Bristol.... I guess The Golden Calf of Bristol should've been #1 last year... I'm pretty sure The Golden Calf of Bristol had more TD's than Cam in his Heisman year.

If he had a better throwing motion, one similar to Newton's, yeah. I think The Golden Calf of Bristol could've been the #1 overall pick last year, or somewhere in the top 5.

Cam THREW for 30 tds and ran for 20.. AND the kid can throw it 50 yards sideline to sideline... I will take that.

The only real satisfaction I will get after seeing us take Newton will be the fact that Mr.Richardson made a point to not spend any money because of the lockout, and now he is going to have to fork over $70 million to one player.

The lockout failed, and essentially the big cat fuged himself.

Based solely on that info, sounds like JaMarcuss Russel to me....that being said....

the Cam Newton game that impressed me the most, out of his entire Chamionship season, was the final Chamionship game. He did not win that game by himself. He was not thoroughly electrifying, did not dazzle everyone with his feet or embarass the other team with his arm. The Auburn Defense was a beast and kept the game close, Cam played within himself, did not take wild chances or play wreckless, and allowed his teammates to make plays. He MANAGED THE GAME extremely well and demonstrated a lot of patience and maturity in doing so.

By himself?
