the ONLY knock I have on Shockey is him being injury prone..

I don't know why you all give such a fug about how perfect someone's character is.. there are some not-so-decent people playing football, and contribute in a HUGE way to their team.

Shockey makes sense here. I am pretty sure our OC was his TE coach when he was in college at Miami U. Just saying, he threw his boy a bone. Sure as hell wasn't a very big contract either

I was quite pleased when this signing happened for a couple of reasons.

I've said for a long time that I've always wanted the Panthers to pick up a Gonzalez or or Shockey type TE. But there's also the fact that Rivera said, if I remember correctly, that he really wanted to stir things up at TE in his first press conference. That's important to me because it tells me that that he's going to do what he says he's going to and that he's ready to shake things up in general.

He hasn't acted that way since he was NY, while he was in NO you didn't really hear much about him outside of the injury buzz. I hope he can stay healthy, he (apparently) helped Jimmy Graham the rookie TE last season for NO develop, hopefully he can give us the same affect as I believe we'll draft an athlete late at the TE spot who's a bit raw overall.

If nothing else we finally have a reliable target over the middle who knows how to get open, as well as a big red zone target as well. Face it guys we finally have a QB's best friend.

We have the coaches from SD, who have watched Gates do some amazing things over the past 4 seasons.

I knew that we were going to pick up a pass catching TE, I was just hoping that it was going to be Marcedes Lewis.
