Mike Shula is going have his work cutout for him

Cam didn't have a single fumble at Auburn did he?

He holds on pretty well and his pocket presense is very solid imo.

He runs with like its a loaf of bread.

I do like his pocket presence. He is Mike Vick 2.0 hopefully he wont go down the same path.

Shula worked very with David Garrard, Garrard and Newton were very similar players in college and there is article on bleacher report that lists Cam Newton's top 10 NFL comparison's and if I'm not mistaking, David Garrard was somewhere between two and five. I think Shula still has his work cut out for him, but I think he can make Cam a winner on the NFL level. Personally, I believe that the Panthers have all the right tools around to help Cam Newton succeed at the next level.

I think one of the best moves in the offseason was to get Shula. Worked very well with Garrard and his potential is no were near Newton. Once he get him and work with him over time Newton will be a very good QB. But what will make him even better is his will to get better. His biggest problem is going to be able to adapt into the game and been able to read coverage its not that diffcult and the best way is game expierence. I wouldnt be surprise if he is starting by the middle of the season. One key reason why is because if he goes number 1 he cant sit n the beach for long. If he does it a waste of money and we could of went another route. Remember Hurney and Rivera wants and impact player. If they dont feel he can be and impact and help us win they wont draft him.

Also forgot his biggest upside is the criticism most people already believe he will be a bust.

Auburn isn't the NFL, wake up. If we are smart we won't be teaching how to hold onto the ball running for yards but instead teaching to buy time and scramble in the pocket and behind the LOS. He does have pretty good pocket presence but once again that was at Auburn at a much slower pace, so at this point it's hard to say if that will carry over. Most of what Newton did will not translate but the raw skills are still there.

One thing is for sure he will need perfect coaching.

If, we do that Cam will never reach his full potential, that is why you have busts like Akili Smith and Vince Young. If you take away something that they are good at they won't have the desire to learn or win. If we teach Newton to play in the NFL while still letting him play his game then the whole NFL Nation will take notice, at least in my opinoion.

Yeah, just stand there and get sacked my a 300lb DT, even the best QB's run for yardage when there's nothing down the field. Aaron Rodgers, Donovan Mcnabb, Big Ben, Josh Freeman and the list goes on.

When I think about it, Cam Newton's best chance to really succeed in the NFL might be Carolina. Ron Rivera won't allow Jimmy nor Cam to rest (should he be drafted), and driving them both to competition will hopefully reveal a capable QB. While I fully expect this same mindset for all positions, I'm thinking that QB will definitely be the most intense.

While I would prefer Dareus, I find myself giving the new coaching staff the benefit of the doubt to give the team the franchise QB it's been demanding.

The Gruden Camp segments on TV, while not exactly a crystal ball, have been fairly eye opening. Being able to watch them interact and be called out on things (which surely some have rehearsed, but Gruden seems to want to catch QBs off guard and make them uncomfortable). One thing that I saw was that Cam Newton was a competitor, and while he definitely seems to love being in the spotlight I came away with the impression that it stemmed more from his desire to lead. He's got the charisma and talent.

I'm loving the idea of both Clausen and Newton turning out to be solid QBs, and being able to get a killer trade in the future for whichever one doesn't start.
