If the lockout is lifted by the judge, Manning a Free agent

i dont know man after reading what could happen to the players on the open market with no union, i really think they are trying to force the NFL back to the bargaining table and fug them sideways..the players have planned this far they have to know they stand to lose everything too

Collectively the "players" don't want this. But guys like Manning and Brady sure do. They know their paychecks would only go up in a free market.

The players are no longer the players anyway. It's now the lawyers. If the lawyers want this to happen there is nothing the players or owners can do to stop it.

The courts will not allow the NFL to revert to 2010 rules. They will force the NFL to completely open up the market. Players that already signed their contracts from being tagged will have to stay with the team because of the contract but a player like Manning that never signed will be free to go wherever.

I can't believe more fans on this site really don't care about what is happening, or many of you simply won't accept the fact it is happening. Not sure which is more true...

They can't. The ruling says unrestricted free agency meaning no tags.

Where are you guys getting this stuff? All I could find relating to it is this from PFT:

6. Will the 2010 rules be used in 2011?

It’s unclear at this point. Many have assumed that the NFL will simply repeat the 2010 rules, which entailed no salary cap, no salary floor, and six years to unrestricted free agency.

With the players poised to challenge any rules implemented by the teams as a violation of the antitrust laws, the NFL needs to select the rules for 2011 carefully. If the league goes too far, the league will lose the antitrust lawsuit. If the league crafts rules narrowly aimed at ensuring competitive balance, the league could win the antitrust lawsuit — and the players would be stuck with a system that entails none of the protections that a union provides.

Am I missing something?

As crazy as it may seem, I would not be totally shocked to see Manning take his services elsewhere.

The Colts are not an all around well run team, and they have never tried to build a stout D to help Manning out. At this point he has to be wondering if he will be able to "get it done again" with the Colts.

A team like Baltimore or the Jets dangling huge amounts of money his way, and a badass D to go along with his skillset, may just make him question his loyalty.
