Smith wants out, prefers Chargers or Ravens

You are an idiot. Go find a new team.

Negged.

Nope. Been faithful since the beginning. I'm just realistic. He's probably the most "under the radar" locker room cancer in the NFL. We hear about TO and all that... but when Smitty is pissed, the whole team feels it. How are our guys like LaFell and Gettis going to get any better when Smitty is crying all the time, calling out the organization, and blaming the QB's? That's a real good example to set...

What are you talking about? The reason we our WR's haven't developed is because we haven't drafted any in like 3 years(aside from last year). Gotta have talent to make talent. Gettis and LaFell were actually pretty decent last year.

I don't know, I think Smitty has not been a mentor to our young receivers.

I think we all should wait until after the draft is over to see how he feels. If we grab Newton, our offense has the potential to be absolutely sick!! Newton, DWIll, Stew, improved OL with Otah back, Lafell/Gettis/Smith at WR and Shockey/Rosario at TE. Weapons everywhere.

If we dont grab Newton and we stick with Jimmy, I dont blame him for wanting out.

You guys are dillusional.

Adding a project QB, that will need to LEARN how to play QB in a pro sytem, will NOT make our offense better next season.

Even if we take him, even the Huggers agree that he is nowhere near ready to see the field in his rookie season.

Let's be clear it's not Smith's responsibility to mentor/develop young receivers, that is the staff's job (I mean thats what they're paid to do). We saw how much our team struggled with Smithat WR, I can only imagine how tough it would be on a #1/#2 combo of Gettis, and LaFell. I like both of them but neither are ready to take the lead role at this point given what was shown last season.

On the flipside Smith will turn 32 this season, he's coming off of the worst season he's had in the last 8 years, no team is going to give us a 3rd for him, and to me accepting a 4th is a joke. I seriously doubt any player we could draft at that spot could produce like OUR Smitty could. I say let him play out his contract, nad get out of him what you can (unless someone offers GREAT not good value).

Newton would make the offense better than last year. A rookie Newton is better than a 2nd year Clausen.

now, that doesn't mean I think we should start him week 1 but he will make us better sooner rather than later

We took a chance and drafted him, stuck by him through his assaults on teammates, extended his contracts after injuries....and he does us like this? I wish he was as loyal to the Panthers as we were to him.

Well said.

...and I won't miss him treating fans like crap.

True but Smith is a premier WR. We've given him sh1t at QB and virtually no help at WR and he has turned it into gold for the better part of the decade. He's tired of the same crap.
