Texans wanting to trade up

Per John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. They're said to be talking to the Broncos, targeting Von Miller or Patrick Peterson.

The deal would be for the Texas 1st, 3rd, and 4th rounders and Amobi Okoye. It would put is at #11.

Still no second rounder, but having two third rounders could present trade up options.

If you were the Panthers, would you call the Texans and say "forget Denver, we'll take it".

not for me, at least assuming things go as expected/projected...

i would like to see us come away with dareus, green, or peterson. i don't think you can go lower than arizona at 5 and be very confident that you'll have your shot at one of those three guys. we need an elite player at their position and those are the three elite players i see in this draft. i put julio jones, von miller, and amukamara just barely below that. i don't think there's an elite quarterback in this draft or one that is worthy of a top 8 pick in this draft. and again, i think we need to come away with a nearly-can't-miss player at their position. can't get that at the 11th spot. just my two pennies.

Third round picks have gotten us Wharton, Anderson, CJ, Connor, Witherspoon. We've gotten more big time contributors there than in the 2nd round

I don't think there is any way anyone could turn that deal down.

Hurney has been on a roll with third round talent in the past few years.

Even if you were a Cam hugger, you would agree that the deal is better than having Cam.

This trade all hinges on what it is going to cost to sign the #1 pick. If the cost is similar to recent years, then you trade just to avoid the inevitable cap hell that having the #1 pick can entail. If the cost is greatly reduced via a new CBA, then you stay at the pick.

Didn't think we could trade players in this draft. Did they change that from yesterday or is it still up in the air? As for whether that is a good trade, moving down 10 spots should be worth more than a 3rd and 4th and a bust IMO.

That was my question too. The judge's ruling is the only thing I could think of.

For the record, McClain is the same guy who reported the Redskins were actively trying to trade up.
