Really? I must have been on the wrong side.

I did have dinner at a good restaurant, some old house cant remember the name.

I take it that quite some time has passed since your last visit.. you may have been in East Raleigh..

i do and it is. plus with your umm, huddle reputation, you might explode on days its warm. just sayin

Oh I've seen the womenz that downtown has... somewhat comparable to Wilmington but maybe a little older which is not a bad thing. I would fo sho move if it worked out... not gonna happen with kids in the house.

I live about two miles from Uptown...but i dont get down there much during the week. But, i have to say, warm sunny days around lunch time, is quite the sightseeing time down there.

I went to UNCC (Charlotte) and what I saw there was a wide divergence in people. You had a lot of blue collar, with a tad of technology, but mostly the money was in finance. In Raleigh, you have RTP which has biotech, technology, and 3 major Div 1 colleges around. 2.5 hours from some beaches. Downtown has been revitalized with bars/restaurants (see NHL All Star weekend reviews of late). I think you find a better educated group of people in Raleigh. What you'll find though is a LOT of people in Wake County are conservative UNLESS you live within the beltline and you'll find the typical urban liberal tinge (Cameron Village/Oberlin areas). Probably MORE old money in Charlotte than Raleigh. Raleigh's small towns surrounding it still carry a small town feel (Fuquay, Zebulon, Wake Forest, Holly Springs, Apex), but if you want to be surrounded by a bunch of yankees and like to be told how to maintain your home and what color to paint the shutters...go to Cary (AKA Containment Area for Relocated Yankees).

Like I said...I went to Charlotte in the early 90s and lots have changed since I've been there. I like being 3-4 hours from the mountains and 2.5 from the beaches and a growing city.

Charlotte does have the Panthers though...

A comedy club? As in one? God, I can't even imagine the concept that there's one of anything. You ask someone around here, "Hey, where's that rooftop tavern, with the revolving bar and furniture on the ceiling that has Pony Play enthusiasts meetings on Tuesday" and they'll probably say, "The one on the Waterfront, the one in Dupont or the one in Rockville?"

Hoo boy, this is going to be an adjustment.

Wait, you haven't moved here yet and already you're complaining about how it's better back up north?

You're doing it wrong.

Don't move to Asheville if you are looking for a well paying job. Im born and raised and I am leaving it. No opportunities for a great career. Just come up here to drink the beer, enjoy the weather and mountains.

Ex fuggin actly Bredy! Construction type jobs is all you will find here! (Luckily I have a job). As for the beer...we have a plenty! There are breweries all up and down the French Broad River. BeauxBerry would fuggin love this place!

cap, just move into husker and I's hood and all is good. everything you need is 5 miles or less.

and i hate to say this, every fiber of my being loathes Raleigh. I still have nightmares about 40/440. Where is your exit? How do you get to your exit? My God even Raymond Babbit would say screw it give me Judge Wapner. Been a few years so maybe its better.
