Predict out 2010 record with Newton as QB

I'm sorry, but I'm convince the guy doesn't have "it" at all what so ever.

This is the only response thus far to my "how is Cam any different" question that makes sense. It is tough for anyone to answer this except for the coaching staff - they get to see Clausen's development day in and day out. If the coaching staff isn't sold, then I completely understand the pick. But still, drafting Cam doesn't get us back to competitive football for a couple of years, and this is a couple years assuming he is a successful NFL QB.

If we draft 3 QB's in two years Hurney should be out of a job.

I would love for Clausen to bounce back after last year. I would love to say it was a myriad of outside issues combined with rookie play that made him suck so bad. However he showed no visible improvement from 1st start till 9th start. As a matter of fact he looked worse as the season went on. He wasn't even up and down, it was all down. A guy off his couch came in and until the last part of the fourth quarter played better than Clausen. I just don't see Clausen becoming a viable starter and feel like it's a waste of a year to even waste starting him again.

I honestly don't think any qb had a chance with the Panthers last year. A coaching staff on the way out surrounded by a bunch of rookies is not a good combination. I don't think we should start Clausen. I would rather see us get Dareus or Green and go after someone on the free agent market. Another poster said this team is set-up to win with a marginal qb and I agree with this statement. Why not go get Kolb, McNabb, Young, Palmer, or Orton and give pickles another year with a clipboard?

So why is everyone ready to mortgage the farm on Newton when he wouldn't have done any better than Clausen last year? Point is - Clausen wasn't given a fair shake as we all know. Newton seems a lot riskier than Clausen because we will have to pay him a lot more money and he is a lot farther behind as far as the pro language.

Step out of the logic box and hop onto the Cam hype train!
