Cam Newton vs Steve Smith

First I set that avatar long before the PP7 stuff came out and I don't have avatars or signatures turned on so I haven't seen it since. Second' date=' PP7 doesn't have to relearn how to play his position....[/quote']

Some are projecting him as a better saftey prospect.

Can you please tell me where I said I wouldn't give Cam the same pass if he was here....I've said numerous times if he's the pick I'll support him 100% I just have other prospects I would rather have on the team. You attacking me for not liking your guy is really humorous though....

Attack??

Thats whats humorous.....You couldn't have felt threatened by that. I dont care who you are or who you like. But making up reasons not to support a guy while supporting someone who has done worse is hypocrital. Its not just you i'm pointing the finger at so calm down your attack talk

Which is a common thing for DBS when they go in to the NFL so it's not nearly as big of a concern as a QB learning how to go through progressions, take a snap from center and run a pro style offense. Let's not even go into the fact that he knows 0 NFL verbiage and we're in a year where at this very moment coaches and players can't communicate....

Calling me a hypocrite when I didn't say word one about whether I wouldn't give Cam the same benefit of the doubt and passes is humorous....better....

Two fights hardly compares to Newton's list of crap. Plus, Smith was already here and a contributor, you have a chance now to avoid that type of crap by avoiding Newton.

I think you are way off base on this.

Because Steve Smith is a Panther and Cam Newton isn't.

Correct.

So we've shown you scandal with PP7. You said CN would have to relearn a position. We say some project PP7 at Safety and now this....c'mon now

It's not that big of a transition for NFL CB's to convert. I'd say that it would be just as difficult of a transition for PP as it would be CN.

I'm not saying that Steve's behavior is acceptable' date=' I wish he wouldn't get pissed and punch people but I think knowingly buying stolen property and putting several schools in jeopardy by letting your dad pimp you out is much more cause for concern then getting angry on a football field during practice....[/quote']

Wait a minute, so the schools lined up with money in hand and now somehow Cam forced them into it and put THEM at risk??

If there truly was a pay to play ( I think so and don't care) then the schools were eager and willing participants so please don't suggest otherwise.

But theres no guarantee that PP7 would be moved to safety. I've heard just as many people (if not more) say moving him to safety would be the wrong choice. There's no debating that Cam is going to have to relearn his position. Once again I've said all along if the F.O. does their HW and everything checks out then they should draft Cam. If they do I'm behind him 100%, there are just other players that I feel project to the NFL better for various reasons...

Except it was Cecil who initiated the contact but o.k. I never said the schools weren't willing to participate and Auburn will get whatever is coming to them, but they wouldn't have been in the position if Cecil wouldn't have made the call asking them for money....

I appreciate the civility of our debate. Good on you.

(Pac-10 sucks) :)

Not Really....

Not to turn this a back and forth between us but you've already shown you wouldn't give him the same benefit of the doubt by bringing up his so call criticism and character issues. Who cares if he bought a stolen lap top? He didn't punch his team mates in the face. We have players on the team now that have done worse than Newton and produce less. So not wanting to draft a player for supposed "character flaws" or insert other random reason is laughable

Except that IMO getting into a fight at practice is part of football. I view committing a crime and going to jail more severe. Like I said we had scuffles almost daily in HS. We have a difference of opinion that's cool no big deal....

Panther fans are hyprocrites. And only care about character when it suits them. Most people who constantly masturbate morality don't have none.

don't have none, eh?

Character matters, but not all "character concerns" are equal. Part of why Cam's stuff is so prominent right now is the consideration for #1. Concerns are not all issues, either... For instance, I have concerns about Cam's character but I don't know if those concerns illuminate any actual issues he might have, so I will trust the judgment of the FO.

Certainly, I would welcome Cam Newton to the team even if I am right now not sure it's the best choice. On the other hand, there is no way I would welcome, say, Big Ben to the team right now because I feel that, especially in your quarterback, conduct does matter. Big Ben is apparently trying to redeem himself and change his life. If that is true, I will applaud him. What he was rumored to have done was worse than Cam, by far.

As to Smitty, he's a Panther now... and he's taken his lumps for the stupid poo he's done. He seems to keep his anger problems to the game even if it means decking teammates. This is stupid poo but he knows it's a problem and he has worked on it. This is an issue and there is no excuse for it but I do not view it quite the same as an arrest off the field.
