Cam Newton vs Steve Smith

I meant criticism before he even got to the league.

They seemed to stop talking as much when Newton kept winning.

As a football fan I only care about what he does on sunday. He's a grown man that is his life, Do whatever you want. I care when what he does makes him miss that beloved game on sunday. Now even with Newton's "criticism" and his own silly choices it never caused him to miss a game. Steve Smith attacked his own team mates which caused him to miss out on my coveted sunday panther football games. If your willing to give Smith a pass your a hypocrite plan and simple.

Two fights hardly compares to Newton's list of crap. Plus, Smith was already here and a contributor, you have a chance now to avoid that type of crap by avoiding Newton.

Ok now you are reaching.

Newton was just starting at Florida when he got in trouble and the pay4play has not been proven.

Smitty has flat busted the face of two teammates as a grown man. Not to mention already part of the team. The Lucas incident was pretty inexcusable.

Because Steve didn't have the character concerns coming out of college. It's a whole package when evaluating a prospect not just parts. I'm not really sure what's so hard for you grasp about that....

He had a reputation for fighting teamates in high school and college.

"In Steve’s world, the reality is that you often had to fight for what you wanted, or just to keep what you wanted. He was as quick with his fist as with his fists, and ended up in fights when challenged in football and basketball games. Still, he excelled on the gridiron for University High, playing tailback and defensive back.

Taylor (at Santa Monica) also helped Steve control his anger. The football field had always been a place for the teenager to work out his frustrations. But after three fights in one week—with his own teammates—the coach benched him."

Can you please tell me where I said I wouldn't give Cam the same pass if he was here....I've said numerous times if he's the pick I'll support him 100% I just have other prospects I would rather have on the team. You attacking me for not liking your guy is really humorous though....

I probably would have traded Smith after the 2nd incident honestly. I don't forgive him, and I certaily don't praise SS. He is a bad teammate, and is very hateful/ungrateful toward the fans of this team.

I don't have to forgive Newton, just the same as I have not forgiven SS.

And for all that are concerned, I am not nearly as concerned about Newtons off field stuff, as I am about his on field.

Less than 300 D1 passes, and 1 year starting leads to disaster.

We had fist fights almost everyday at practice when I played football....just saying, it's not really that uncommon to have fights during a football practice...

Well a history of high school and college fights (3 in one week), and assaulting 3 pro teamates is a pattern. A big problem pattern.

I'm not saying that Steve's behavior is acceptable, I wish he wouldn't get pissed and punch people but I think knowingly buying stolen property and putting several schools in jeopardy by letting your dad pimp you out is much more cause for concern then getting angry on a football field during practice....

Understandable.

Yet he has PP7 in his avi

And honestly I compare that laptop thing to people opting to buy a burned cd rather than the retail CD from best buy. Look at it like that and it looks real silly for people to still bring that up 3 years later move on already.

First I set that avatar long before the PP7 stuff came out and I don't have avatars or signatures turned on so I haven't seen it since. Second, PP7 doesn't have to relearn how to play his position....
